im guessing since last year they banned so many real users, most with multiple accounts. they mustve lost genuine traffic to the site, which is mostly filled with AI/BOTS now, and is actually started to annoy people. also openAI, googl

reddit is already blocking other methods to remove the login popup, they arnt rolling it out all at once for fear of public backlash. they are trying to sneak it in slowly.
