I disagree with this. I don't find CMake any less easy to use than make in the simple case, but it is far better than Autotools in the complex case. Just learn CMake and be done with it. As a bonus, it saves you some typing making your

The A10's minigun is ineffective at killing modern main-battle tanks, so I wouldn't say it's a raging sucess. In addition, it would certainly be blown up immediately if it came within shooting distance of a tank by any number

I sincerely doubt that. I believe once driverless cars come around, there will be nothing to differentiate Uber from any other app from an established fleet management company like Avis, Hertz, or Enterprise.

I suppose they could beg the Chinese government to enforce their IP rights and crack down on counterfeit manufacturers. Or they could crack down on end-users. Or let the counterfeit manufacturers free-ride off their driver development.

How does this compare to breadboarding? Two things off the top of my head: 1) Silver-based ink sounds expensive. 2) How are through-hole components mounted to paper?

I'm not sure how I feel about flexible funding campaigns. I really don't want to give them my money unless I know for sure they'll have enough capital to be able to do a manufacturing run, which precludes flex funding. Conver

I see nothing in this article that proves that the meat is unfit for human consumption. In fact, it seems that the meat was within FDA guidelines in residual ammonia levels post-wash. Now, is eating animal trimmings savory? No, but the patt

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. I doubt any court in the land would rule that Bitcoin is not a currency.

Don't get me wrong, OSHW does have some value exactly as you said: it's a great learning tool for hobbyists and those new to field without the money to reverse engineer a product. But that is not the buzz that is being written by

Nobody who has ever made a commercial product for a living would be trumpeting a new industrial revolution brought on by open reference designs. Fact is: that stuff is there already. Component manufacturers literally have field application

For something to be oversold... it has to be sold as something in the first place. I work at a company which uses Matlab extensively. I don't think anyone here views Matlab as a general-purpose language, even though you can put togethe

Not sure I'm a huge fan of the all-in-one approach. I'd prefer a distributed network of sensors. Also, looking at their ad copy --- sensing fire using a temperature sensor is a fool's game. By the time the temperature changes

You'd have to have a pretty sizeable home before you start itemizing for mortgage interest and not take the standard deduction. I disagree.

Yeah, I did a doubletake as well. I think "groundbreaking" is a bit of an exaggeration. The Internet of Things has been on the hype train for a decade now, but it still hasn't arrived for cost reasons - and I don't think this changes the ec

I don't agree. Radio in the early 20th century in the United States was not regulated, and operated in the unregulated fashion you described, and it was a failure. What has really changed in the intervening century? Spectrum interference is

A long time ago the industry was all about playable demos. Then publishers slowly stopped making restricted demo versions. Seems we've now full circle when it comes to games.
