I would drop coldfusion from your CV and simply include modern relevant languages. Don't mention cold fusion during your interviews. Cold fusion should no longer exist for you.

Having mostly used Angular and React with APIs, I recently wrote a small app with server-side templating and a very small amount of jquery. It was an absolute joy. Especially with webpack it feels like the front-end has become needlessly co

I would add another example of a use case. Access already solved most of the no-code issues. In our SME I wrote a key business application using standard Access forms and a database. There's a few lines of VBA code but that's it.

Was this the same as MSN Messenger? Got a lot of nostalgia from the PowWow UI. In Europe we used MSN Messenger pretty exclusively in the late 90s, early 2000's while ICQ and AOL were more popular in the US.

Mozilla has become dependent on Google. It's natural they will lobby for their payments to continue. It's a great strategy by Google - keep the #2 competitor dependent on you and they will even lobby on your behalf. All for a few

I've been involved with many international groups where the controlling shareholders have a different domicile to the operating company. The shareholders will always call the shots. They can replace operating teams, restructure the bus

They created monopolies by buying up potential competitors. They are case studies in the success of M&A. American regulators and politicians turned a blind eye (and continue to beyond lip service) because of their international dominanc

The Opium Wars happened long before Pearl Harbour, yet America is happy to do business with the Japanese. Actually the Opium Wars is often referenced more by Western commentators than the Chinese, for whom the event is simply history and ir

I read several years ago that policing unions were initially reluctant to wear body cameras but are now very much in favour as they usually provide evidence that supports the police officer's statement of events.

Good analysis. I suspect you're right, the funding would be diverted from traditional crime investigations to cultural and behavioural enforcement.

At a micro level I can understand this point, but the proper functioning of markets requires competition. You likely wouldn't advocate one supermarket, one car company or one hardware manufacturer. Even if you would prefer to use Apple

Ultimately giving users choice is the best way forward. Apple shouldn't be allowed to block competing app stores (or sideloading) on their platform, in my view that's monopolistic. Imagine if Microsoft had restricted the ability t

I trust Google way less. They want to take content from publishers and monetise it while giving very little back resulting in an unsustainable media model. Google does the equivalent of wiretapping every day then sells data to advertisers,

A bit late to the party here but Google's monopolistic tendencies are only increasing. When you login to any Google service, Chrome automatically recognises your login and keeps you logged in. The only way to disable this is in advance

My dude, my entire point is that most consumers don't care so it reinforces the monopoly.

I would say it's actually quite hard to argue that. Consumers upgrade their phone primarily based on hardware specifications.

It's not. The entire purpose of regulation is to fix bad market practices.

I don't want to change my phone. I want to change my App Store. Why can't I? Because the App Store is a monopoly.

As a consumer, why can't there be an alternative App Store on IoS if I don't like the Apple terms? Apple shouldn't force consumers and developers to provide them with 30%.

Nintendo and Sony's monopolistic practices were small enough to be ignored, not Apple's. This is a trillion dollar problem that has no precedent.

Apple leverages user ignorance to create their demand-side app store monopoly. That's the entire point.

By their very nature, monopolies emerge in new and unexpected ways. They shouldn't have to fit an outdated definition to be fixed. Digital has changed everything, as the market capitalisation of Big Tech shows.
