I especially liked the GNOME member's response. Classy and dignified.

Now I'm a "rabid Mono pusher", brilliant. Thanks for reminding me why most everyone hates people like you.

I did a search on techrights.org of your username and it seems you're one of the regulars there. I guess paranoia pays off sometimes. The "gnosis" account that posted on this same thread is a, um, friend of yours, I take it? In any case, so

Yes well, I could have used the same argument against the GPL back in the day. And really, I don't need to read through an article by someone who declared the Mono project "dead" a few months ago because he couldn't find the SVN repository.

The main problem with deletionism in WP is the fact that the notion of notability is very subjective in some cases. There are situations that are very clear (people who have competed in Olympics are a shoe-in, garage bands that have never c

I'd be interested to know what platform they're running Redis on. Is it Windows or Linux? Edit: Oh, the article link mentions it's running on CentOS. I was looking for that in the parent's link.

I've also said on occasion that I have to "shoulder the responsibilities" of watching football in my PJs all Sunday. No one at my household is fooled by it either.

I've been doing this with PayPal and their free security token fob for three years and I couldn't be happier. This kind of thing should be the standard for any 'critical' accounts like banking and email. If you don't have a token you probab

This is a bogus argument. Google is not the "messenger" any more than Microsoft is the victim (as they seem to be portraying themselves). Google is the accuser, and they have their motivations for bringing this to light. Microsoft is free t

Unfortunately that doesn't work from behind most corp proxies. They see the Google cache (and even Google Translate) as an evil way to get around their restrictions.

Perhaps we're jaded with visions of the previous one, with its excesses and unrelenting and misplaced hubris. Maybe the next one will be muted, but it doesn't mean it can't or won't happen. On the other hand not all bubbles are bad.

Well, not all knock-offs are bad :) My experience with both the older (state-built) and newer (Norinco) Type 56's has been generally good.

Yeah, pretty much. It's an extremely simple (albeit clever) design so there's only so much you can get wrong when you're copying it. Note that the Type 56 like most other AK knock-offs are really copies of the later AKM "improved" model, wh

I think most movies use the Chinese Type 56 assault rifle, which is a Kalashnikov knock-off and is far more common in the US than the real thing. Most people can't tell the difference between the two. BTW, I highly recommend "The Gun" by C.

My reading of material like `The Sword and The Shield` and other books sourced from the Mitrokhin papers don't really support the idea that the Soviets had much success in HUMINT, especially after the 50s.

$6 billion profit on almost $27 billion revenue... that's almost 50% YTD. That's insane. And 62% of that from outside the US. Say whatever you want about Apple, but they know how to print money.
