You're correct about MRS. They seem to be the last holdout on a number of lines. I believe almost the entire remaining network is on GPS now.

Lidar on trains has some uses, but you're quite correct that it isn't the primary sensor. However, automating trains on heavy-haul networks like the US & Brazil is a big opportunity. The pressure to reduce crew costs means lon

To be fair, Brazil has been using GPS-based dispatching for quite a while. While I haven't investigated their implementation in-depth, almost the entirety of the long distance rail network has switched to it and no longer uses wayside

Very cool. Do you have plans to add other manufacturers like Lucid and Rivian anytime soon?

I was curious how accurate it is for India. Such an amazingly dense and intricate rail network.

Always love this when it comes up on HN. There are some inaccuracies that only a total train nerd such as myself would find (or care about) but those do nothing to detract from how good it is :)

Upwork et al have really made it easy to resource on demand for a myriad of needs, but they don't really fill the gap where knowledge, skill and trust are needed on. a high-priority project. There's probably a lot of opportunity i

…interesting. So, looking at technical solutions, one thought is using active noise cancelling. Basically, use a microphone (or several) to cause destructive interference of the sound and reduce the amplitude in your home. While this would

I'm curious if anyone here on an M1 has tried installing the iPad/iOS version on their computer. I've done this for some badly misbehaving apps (Slack for example) and found it to be a significant improvement in performance,

Were you able to get proper hidpi scaling on it without artifacts/blurriness or are you just letting it run at native scaling?

I used Better Display with it (very useful tool) but it only partially improved the scaling instead of resolving entirely. It still has banding, jagged edges and some lag.

I’m unsure if that’s possible. Running a Mac Studio M1 Ultra.

I was disappointed too. In the end the vastly improved aspect ratio and ergonomics could not overcome the unpleasant screen quality. While Mac OS has never had an issue with other monitors and scaling replies in my experience, it does for t

I can confirm it works with VESA mounts without issue. I’m using an Ergotron arm mounted to the wall and it went on no problem.

I’ve had one of these for a few weeks and am returning it. Here’s my take: - The aspect ratio is great when rotated 90 degrees. I really liked having more vertical room for coding and documents. - Screen scaling with Mac OS does not work we

Renfe also operates some variable gauge trains on the high speed network that radiate out into the Iberian gauge lines to serve smaller cities. That said I don’t believe any cross the border to France.

The angle is that systems to overcome this limitation have lacked for (a) economic reasons and (b) political will. Both clearly now are less of an issue due to the shortage of grain on the global market due to the war.

1. Agreed for the most part, though I think a startup could overcome the break-of-gauge limitations pretty fast with moderate investment (and less red tape). 2. There are multiple different ways of handling BofG; the holdup is just deployin
