Well it is a damn sight better than how many window cleaners are there in London.

This is the number one problem I have with Android. Once I buy an Android phone I pretty much expect 6 months of updates. Maybe longer if it is a really big bug. Sure some OEMs have made "promises" to provide 2 years of updates bu

Indeed, this just confused me for a minute. I am in the UK and Apple News isn't available here yet.

Nice concept, a true command line version would be quite nice. Perhaps with vim bindings for navigation (or emacs!). It would be nice if I could setup my own aliases, commands such as 'view comments N' is pretty long to write, vie

Thanks. I saw the mention of Windows XP and was a little confused about that, seems a little strange to spend resources on an old and unsupported platform imho.

How is rust on Windows these days? The last time I looked at it (pre-1.0) I believe it still needed external libraries from MinGW or something? I could be totally wrong, I don't keep tabs on the progress other than when it is posted ab

Just found out (the hard way) that content block extensions for Safari does not work on an iPhone 5c which sucks. According to Apple it is due to performance (the 5c uses the same SoC as the 5). I can't help but think this is a massi

Agreed, I find Apple Maps to generally look much better than Google Maps in London (more specifically west London).

Wow. If this did indeed come from Obama then the school administration are gonna be feeling pretty damn awkward today. Has anyone discussed the legal ramifications the school/police might have to deal with? I would assume this kid is i

That was, from what I can remember/find from a quick search, simply a resource issue. They had all their top engineers working on iOS so ran short on engineers for OS X and as iOS so important to them they decided to take the hit on de

WhatsApp seems to be a great example of designing your system with the best tools available. To go from nothing to pretty much being the de-facto modern replacement for SMS in a couple of years is an amazing achievement. I really need to si

I think at the moment the idea is that the bigger the phone the more it is worth thus the more they can make on it. I would love a 4.2" (so .2" bigger than a 5s) version of the 6s. Basically just the same camera would be great.

Actually yeah this is something that annoys me also. I love the size of the 5{c/s}. I don't want a massive phone yet my options for anything under 4.5" is very limited.

I guess I am just getting old but I don't care about my phone anymore. It does all I want it to do and I don't want to upgrade my phone more often than my computer .

Yeah that was the biggest thing for me too. We knew what was coming with the iPhone, Apple TV and iPad Pro. That upgrade program is going to be a big thing in my opinion. One thing I wasn't sure about though was do you own the phone or

A Kindle was my first e-reader but I have since switched to a Kobo. If I cannot find a book to buy in DRM-free ePub I don't bother with it now. Music is DRM-free these days, no reason for books to still come with horrible restrictions.

To be fair that post is from 2007 which is like 32 years in tech years. Virtualisation technologies both hardware and software have improved a lot since then.

While on the subject of fonts could an expert answer a question for me - on Windows (10 if it matters) should I install the ttf or the otf font? Is there a difference?

Nope. It is a rather gimped implementation sadly but that is pretty much true of Windows 10 in general. Lots of good ideas about 30% implemented.

My biggest issue is I can't right click on the title bar of an app and send it to another desktop. I have to open the Task View and move it that way. Not very user friendly.

I am still undecided about Windows 10. I have been running it as my primary OS since release day and while it isn't bad I don't really see any benefit to it either. Cortana isn't as helpful on my computer as it is on my phone

Windows is pretty good even on minimal resources these days. Microsoft could cut a lot of legacy stuff out though for a Chromebook-like experience. I love the idea of a Chromebook. A somewhat limited laptop that looks after itself in terms

Once Microsoft's new Edge browser matures I could see a free, locked down version of Windows 10 being some serious competition for Chromebooks and iPads.
