For unique data you want super robust storage options, both local and remote. But for something as generic as ripped CDs? Why bother? Just use an external drive or two if you are super worried about one dying. Even if you lose both drives t

No. For people on a capped data plan that is just a waste of data. Much better to buy a 32GB Micro SD for under £10. Of course that means you need a phone with a Micro SD slot but if space is an issue for you then I highly doubt you own a p

Yeah they should separate out links (with a maximum number total links not characters per post) and hash tags (again with a maximum number of total hash tags not characters per post). Something like 5 links and 15 hash tags should be enough

T420s user here, the TN panels Lenovo used a few years ago are shockingly bad. I am still looking forward to getting a fanless ThinkPad. A laptop with zero moving parts is my dream. I tried an Asus UX305FA last year but the Core-M is a litt

The trick to writing braces is this - for a { write a 5 than a 2 below and for a } write a 2 then a 5 below. Practice it a little and you will be writing perfect braces in no time. Also it is quite amusing how many people love this trick wh

This annoys the hell out of me as it also never seems to correctly remember I clicked "got it" to the "we use cookies" message that sticks to the top of the page.

Yeah I figured it was such. Thanks for all the great work on Firefox, a lot of people love to hate on it these days but it is still my favourite browser. Have a great Christmas :)

It has been working since Firefox 42 for me. Maybe even before then I am not sure. I guess this is just Netflix making it official now that both 32 and 64-bit versions of Firefox are officially supported on Windows?

Indeed. I also didn't much like the comparison to the .kkrieger demo saying it was "only" 24KB more. Sure the raw exe is but it still needs GB of memory and a crazy fast CPU to do all the content generation at runtime . He a

Which is actually very similar to what Microsoft are doing with Windows 10. The OS and "apps" are all "rolling" in that sense with the list of packages stored on some MS server. Not exactly the same as something like A

Anecdote but I actually did a backup of a 98% full 250GB SSD (Samsung 850 EVO) over the weekend and it took less than 10 minutes. The read speed is ~540MB/s though. This was done using robocopy on a running Windows 10 machine although

Hmm this is a tough one. Firstly I should make it clear that my wife works in the games industry. She works on PC, Console and Mobile titles. She has mentioned several times how there is a lot of pressure put on developers and publishers

Indeed. Even for a technical person this can be daunting with so many options that if you don't know all that much about encryption you can easily make mistakes. There really should be an easy-setup mode which defaults to the commonly

A lot of people don't realise but the weakest point in their setup (from a security POV) is things like the password used on their browser sync account. There is a huge amount of responsibility on the sync service providers. Firefox

I am not so sure. I have met a few famous developers and I used to be surprised just how "boring" their setups were. Rob Pike was the only person who seemed to really configure his environment. A lot of old school devs just cont

I hope you are trolling. Would more women in tech be good? Of course! However there is some crazy SJW stuff going on at the moment in a lot of projects. People pushing for things like Master/Slave to be renamed to Leader/Follower.

I would have been interested to see a Firefox OS in the same vein as Chrome OS. A clean, functional Linux distro that works out of the box with a simple (yet maybe hidden) switch to open it up to running native apps. With XUL extensions the
