Interesting post! I had a look at the Refactoring UI packages, $99 ($79 on sale) seems a little steep for a PDF and three videos.

I can see someone proposed a title change to "Most hyped Books for Programmers" The article title is "10 Best Books for Programmers in 2020" which isn't without sensationalism, however a simple change to " My

Not sure if it's the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon, but I'm seeing these kinds of posts more frequently nowadays... It's given me some background anxiety about relying on Google for my email, Amazon for my hosting, and so on.

Creating things within size limitations is cool, but it's entirely possible to create a bloated website experience within the 250kb or 1MB limit. I think there's more to "bloat" than file-size!

Good question. It also means that these sites need to be continuously reviewed, e.g., updating the site with new content may push it over the limit.

Unlikely that they will backpedal on this, regardless of how much media attention it gets. If a macOS user has an issue with this, time to look for a new OS whilst avoiding the upgrade to Big Sur for as long as possible. Those who depend on

After reading your comment I expected to see low to mediocre activity on their repository... however, 15.1k stars seems to indicate that many do think it's a good idea. I know GitHub stars are not a measure of whether something is a go

This is going off-topic. I highlighted something factual - this is not personal. Whether they choose to update the materials and reference existing work is up to them.

I can see the ambiguity in what you've quoted, but it's clarified in the sentence that immediately follows it. It was referring to the "literate programming environment".

Great idea, thanks for putting it together. Ordering by "Apple silicon optimised" doesn't seem to work as I expected it. Is it a bug? Great to see Office 2019 (not 365) works - was putting off picking up a license for that re

It is true. You can't self-host the same way you can self-host the Jupyter Notebook or Jupyter Lab environment. Or has that changed? Can I work on something offline without communicating with their servers?

You can't self-host with Observable. For many, that means it's not a feasible replacement or improvement over an existing literate programming environment. It is a bit silly to downvote this for not being true, when it is factual.
