UPD: But interesting question though: if language X gives correct answer for that example (without using special classes and functions), does that mean that language X is not following IEEE 754 and does something else under the hood, hence

Isn't it an expected behaviour (at least for programmers) because of IEEE 754? For example, in Racket this also gives 2.0, but if you are using exact numbers (#e), then it gives exact and correct answer 1.0. Same for Java (and any othe

I am doing Java (mostly), 10 years of experience, in New Zealand (not much work to do here, unfortunately), 80-100 NZD per hour. I'm currently free for about 20-30 hours per week, looking for more work. Feel free to contact me: kovrik0

Probably a very stupid question, but I'm wondering if containers (which are extremely popular nowadays) can help us to improve web security? What I mean is, that all major browsers are trying to create their own sandbox environment to

Yes, I have Early 2013 Macbook Pro as well. Had some problems with keyboard, but have it to be replaced today. Was thinking about buying new Macbook Pro, but after seeing the release I'm definitely going to stay with my current one.

Yes. That is what I mean. My wife and I both have 6 Apple devices, 624GB in total (well, yes, they are not full yet, but still) + 1 2TB AirPort Time Capsule, which could store all these GBs easily. All devices (except for old iPod) have

Agree. I really love Apple, but I always find myself Googling for "Can I do that in iTunes?" (the answer is usually No) or "How to do this?". And I can't say that I want something weird. Some workflows look so

Totally agree. I think that happens because: 1) Nowadays almost everything depends on IT. 2) Majority of people still perceive IT as a "black magic". Arcane knowledge, something they don't understand, but depend on.

Can you please elaborate? Because I don't see how it is different. Are you still using Java stack, Java calling convention, still able to do Java interop? When you are writing your own language on top of Java (Scheme, for example), you
