You've been associated with California LE, or similar, me thinks. Edit: Apparently Van Halen used "5150" for an album title. Shows how out of touch I am.

It isn't just the industry, it is the entire economy that suffers. The rush of funds to the industry drives demands for service industries and their jobs, among other things. When the bubble bursts, the industry certainly takes a hit, but s

I wonder if encouraging people to digitally record everyone around them will lead to legal troubles at some point? Back in the day when I shot film, I'd often get the subject to sign a model release. Society and technology have changed a lo

I'm trying to ignore the market as it really has little significant impact on what I'm doing. The effects it has on me are: - It is creating a scarcity in developer resources. This just forces me to relearn how to write good software, defin

You assume that we have a small set of data points, which is a really bad assumption, even if you were just making it about me, personally. Assuming that the HN community commenting on this bubble/not bubble doesn't have a lot of experience

I'm sure I am missing something, but if this is the desired behavior, why not mandate it in the UI, why give users the option to not use the bookmarklet?

- If it is going to take them a few years to get to their eventual, profitable, goal, why invest $41M now? Why not invest $20M now and another $21M when they're on the track that will be truly profitable, once they've demonstrated where the

To that end, a VC friend of mine pointed me to this collection of legal and funding documents for startups - http://www.orrick.com/practices/corporate/emergingCompanies/... I've used Nolo Press to set up several companies and non-profits.

I disagree - my chances of success are far higher than 1% without YC, and I think most other applicants feel the same way.

I think my major take home from the process is that I don't need YC to succeed. I still have an application in, and will certainly appreciate the opportunity should we be accepted, but being accepted is far from make or break.

I tried using sedo to obtain a domain that has been parked for eight years. The initial asking price was $15,000. I countered with $150. A response came back within five minutes for $14,900. I countered with $250. The other side cancelled t
