In many places low wage workers commute into HCOL areas. Being able to live in Manhattan on waiter's earnings is wishful thinking. Waiters are dime a dozen, and it's ridiculous to suggest they could possibly be making enough to li

I recall trying to use restic instead of borg a couple years ago, and some major feature was unavailable. I don't recall what is was, I think it was compression, which made archives quite large, and required larger instances for backup

What. The. Fuck. Tax is arguably on the same level of confidently as health data, and companies entrusted with this information just sells it off? Tax was supposed about giving government your money. There wasn't supposed to be private

Are you saying USA provoked the war, or somehow haven't done enough to avert it? If you remember events before the beginning of confrontation, it seems that USA was bending outwards trying to prevent invasion. What else could we do?

Unions are not quite the great deal. They don't add to the value of the company, and their only goal is to redistribute value from company to workers. Which is not a bad deal when all runs smoothly, but come financial stress and unioni

To be fair, when benefits meet your goals, it could be very good deal. For example 401k matching is the same cash in your pocket, but without tax. Good health care plan, especially when you have family is worth much more than cash and also

We can be reasonably sure that Fischer has not been cheating above and beyond unusual conduct. There hasn't been a way to meaningfully cheat. In our times however there are computers which can materially help, and there are technologie

I don't think you understand what is going on. It's not the quantity, but the quality. Whatever numbers you quoted, (and I'm sure you haven't just made them up) would only make sense if there is a healthy ratio of young

I think you summarized it pretty well: people are getting mad at things, which really make no difference. Why is this happening? My theory is that those of us who don't have private jets secretly envy those who does. "Secretly&quo

Pretty much each statement in your post is incorrect. Nuclear plants produce tiny amount of waste, which we know what to deal with. Amount of fuel if you count thorium is enough for many millennia. And solar can not possibly replace other f

This is such a misguided argument. Amount of nuclear waste is so negligible compared to common waste, it doesn't deserve to even be argued about. Not only that, but today's nuclear waste in couple of decades could become a treasur
