Hello! Please tell me what kind of stuff you are doing that requires this and what are the different tradeoffs that seastar makes? I used seastar to build a software switch for SDNs some years ago…

Hey we are exactly dealing now with all that is related to the performance of running models from HF. Yesterday we ran vicuna-13b-q8-gguf using llamacpp on a vast.ai A40 45GB VRAM It gave us 4 tokens/s generation rate. This seems a bit

If the price is good, having a fallback or a few is much safer than reliance on a single dc. So much so that it matters less if one of dcs burns or whatever. Cloudflare issues are theirs - they can’t blame the dc.

Interesting. They have been operating since 1984 - thats almost 40 years. It would be interesting to read what achievements they made so far. Especially, did they find any sign?

Sadly, they don’t need to. The people who actually buy into this are so stup*d that it’s not worth spending a penny more than a lousy eyes blinding “party”

There is plenty of information and examples scattered around the net. But I couldn’t find something that shows how to do it on Debian using Debian packages correctly.

Yes. This and a lot more is like a long line of red flags. The problem is that I can’t find something else that I could use for this task, without going into development of in house tools and such.

I will comment on each point: Zero Latency - irrelevant for 99% of use cases One Less Service - premature optimization - saves almost nothing Multi-instance replication - where is the advantage over say postgres? Database size - irrelevan

Congrats to the UP team. The platform sounds good. I especially liked the Balancer component.

Just to clarify a bit. A VM is already a container. When you run docker inside a VM it’s another level of abstraction. Yes, one can run docker containers on bare metal, however the isolation is poor and so is the security guarantees. In te

I support the notion of this post. In the last 6 years I’ve mostly been busy removing layers of abstraction in order to uncover the set of tools which is a good balance for me. In example, replaced clojurescript with Javascript and then eve

Allow me to wake you up: Apple is a marketing company that doesn’t develop anything, rather just buying IP. Their products are buggy and awful. Including and especially iphones and ios. Everything else is marketing.

Regarding the platform, I read the landing page for developers. I see a lot of good intentions. But how do you back it up? What guarantees do you provide for developers not to get vendor locked with you, at your mercy?

Everything is relative. If you are a cloud provider it’s one thing. I’m speaking from the perspective of the small medium business that rents these physical or virtual servers.
