Yeah Spintronics was absolutely a bit of a inspiration after the Steve Mould video he did. In fact I'm still racking my brain for some kind of physical analogy rather than circuits, since you can reason about them better. AlphaPheonix

Might as well ask you. I’m toying with the idea of a zachronics style game about analog computing. Building the circuit sim currently. But I can’t tell if it would actually be fun, or if i can find a way to make it fun. Digital computing ha

I don't know how it works in Svelte, but react+MUIv4 (makeStyles) is effectively component scoped as well, in that your selectors will have a random prefix generated unique to each component. I actually find this really obnoxious. Its

I can imagine a use case. For complicated queries, you end up performing a Cronenberg on your data in order to smash it all together with large join chains, or even creating new json columns that effectively return other "tables".

I agree, PS5 has a real problem with a lack of games. AAA single-player development cycles have now gotten so absurdly long, a studio might release a single game an entire console generation, if the studio is brave enough to make a single p

I'd love a short ID standard of some kind. There are so many situations where I just want a quick, ephemeral ID. Doesn't need to be cryptographically secure, collisions are expected. It would be nice to have something to import fr

Well if it matters, I'm astounded at my airpod Pro's battery life. Going on four years of daily use, and I still get 3.5 hours straight hours out of them every night

At my last company the senior dev had all 5 wordpress employees do this. FTP, edit the files directly. He simply did not know how to use git, and did not care to learn. To be fair, it did work. Nothing ever blew up. We had hourly backups fo

On a much smaller scale, I used to use our CI server to build and deploy our CI server. But if it went down it was a huge pain. Not really worth it for the fuzzy feeling, just make it build offline.

I don't even use Ruby but I read this guy's articles every time they're posted. Always very thoughtful, it helps me organize some of my own thoughts on Python's syntax.

William Osman and Allen Pan commented on it in a recent-ish podcast, Allen used to run a space. Basically, the politics of the situation is impossible. Maintaining a space like that costs an incredible amount of money and time. You'd h

I did the same, switched back to npm in 2018/19 as I saw the majority of packages I was using doing the same. But in 2022-2023, I feel like I'm starting to see a lot of yarn again. Maybe just anecdotal, or maybe something changed

I don't know if that applies to solo developers. There is no "moving fast" when you're responsible for every little tiny piece of the thing, especially in an app like this that is necessarily maximalist.

I'm not even worked up about gaming specifically. I just think the FTC is failing horrifically at its job of protecting consumers from monopoly. The SEC is failing on its end too. Everything will just get slowly worse.
