These are just my opinion, but when I'm looking at resumes I want to see what the applicant has done. Tangible, real accomplishments. Describe what you've done with your skills. What have you machined? What hardware did you design

You're right. The magnitude of the potential upside and the control you can influence over outcomes is vastly different as a founder vs an employee though.

This may be an unpopular opinion here, but I'd strongly advise you against working at a startup as an employee. Some key things to consider: * What comp are you giving up? * Will your options be worth more than Facebook

Is it possible that "Automatically check for updates" and "Install system data files and security updates" are set in your system preferences? I have that enabled because this is exactly the kind of thing I want patched

I also hate the touch bar, but far worse is how they ruined all the other keys with the new, super loud low travel design. I want the keyboard from my 2013 model back. It was nearly perfect.

You can already dual boot Linux. Just hold alt when turning on the computer and select the installation media, set it up to boot with EFI, and use the same alt trick to select your Linux partition on boot.

rEFInd is just an EFI application. It doesn't replace the system EFI firmware (which runs before, launches, and provides services to rEFInd). As to whether or not this tool will flag it, I suppose you'll find out shorty after inst

When we initially started development, the application directly synced with GitHub. Turns out, to accurately reflect the current state of Issues on GitHub, you need to poll multiple resources per repository every minute, in addition to subs

We actually handle that as well. If we’ve not heard from a hook we think we’ve installed for a while, we’ll ping it. After three failed pings (spread out over an hour or so), we’ll delete our record of the hook and attempt to recreate it th

As of a few years ago, HN could run fine without CloudFlare and just nginx. CF was mostly to try and obscure the server's IP, and to handle (rare) DDoS attacks.
