I prefer vagrant for most development projects for the simple reason that I can automate the VM + development environment generation AND commit it to a revision control system (git/svn). Once set, I don't have to worry about re-in

On an iPad you don't need HDMI, you have airplay. Sure you need an extra $99 device, but no fiddling with cables, fixed cabling for my TV setup. That's FAR superior to any HDMI connection on any tablet. I do have a 30pin -> HDM

NFC has no real world use-cases, and the implementation in Android sucks (no access to NFC from the Native SDK, not all card/tag types supported, and Google not being very helpful when asking questions about it) and compatibility of th

This, to me, seems to be thinking completely backward. 1) Everything Apple does is "wireless". This guy is talking about docks and cables? Never heard of Airplay? Bluetooth? iCloud/Dropbox/Box.net/Azure? Just readin

To be honest, what you're saying is that to get a 'good model' - you have to 'tweak' these approximations it so they work well "to fit what it was designed for". Maybe you don't like the word 'tw

I came to the same conclusion when looking around for a small lightweight, high end quality laptop. Dell XPS and Lenovo X-series, that's about it I think - and they're similarly priced. Ended up buying the MBA Haswell with i7, 8gi

I have a MBA and the choice between OSX and Windows is a personal-one, but I actually prefer OSX for desktop usage. Linux for me is the best server os around, but using it on a desktop irritates me. OSX gives you the same command-line power

One thing I would like to point out is - that even after those 3 years - you'd get a pretty good price for the MBA if you sold it second hand (given that it still works) They were surprised here at work that when they sold their perfec

You can hardly say iOS supports only one resolution now can you? Thing is - Apple dictates certain limitations AND provides the tools and api's to make it more convenient to support those different resolutions and dpi. On Android you not on

When I read "C code" in this thread - I assume people mean C and C++ together, since they're both capable of the same low-level stuff. The thing is, the new compilers, static analysis, JIT'ing, ... available these days for C++ makes it the

The reason for this is simple, for getting as much light to both eyes as with a 'normal' 2D image, they need waaay more brightness - which means a more accurate color-range, and to let it appear as smoothly, they need higher refresh frequen

While a nice idea, licensing issues are a problem for this project... I don't understand why they didn't use the standard MIT license, but instead went for GPL3, but still chose a proprietary encryption method. iSSH on iOS now also experime

Sadly, there's a difference between how 'clean' or nice the language is, and the "real life" use and deployment. Deploying Ruby for example is an absolute versioning and compatability disaster in my opinion. You almost immediately _require_

Doubt it. If as rumored, Apple releases an iPad 'mini', I think this is going to be an iPod situation, where the iPad grabs the majority of the market, with a lot of smaller manufacturers picking up the bits. The thing is, Android phones we
