For some reason this issue with model having insane amounts of weights but training data being small is not something that is an issue for modern NNs.

I really cannot fathom how one could forget fundamentals. I can prove the average complexity of quicksort with simple math transformations of initial recurrence equation which I do not even have remembered but I'm sure I could derive.

Serbia is far from a dictatorship. Otherwise these propositions wouldn't be met with internal outrage that influences the progression of the law.

Here's a nice anecdotal example of an exploit https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28619499 Hospitals can easily exploit the insured but not uninsured.

It's not really initial conditions, the US government is already spending a lot on medicaid, medicare and social security, I believe almost 50% of its federal budget. [0] As an EU citizen I definitely can't see the USA becoming mo

My take on this is that just injecting stuff in a constructor is an antipattern. Why not pass the data through methods instead of accessing it through a singleton in a constructor? I understand the need for DI, sometimes the order of instan

I wonder how does this affect deep learning calculations and how it's possible that all those multiplications and additions still work.

I think there's work being done on value types in Java. Although this was the case 6+ years ago. I'm surprised they still didn't land into Java.

I think it turned out that coal and oil are mostly heavily processed microorganisms. Trees never end up so deep.

You can still support millions of these requests per second if you just bake all of the dependencies directly in a small OS running on your fastest raspberry pi.

The infectious nature is just how things work with types. Imagine if you had to annotate a function with IO every time you do something that reaches for something else outside of the program. You would either design things differently so th

I gained 25kg on a vegan diet through a span of 5 years. You just have to eat a bit more than comfortable but protein digestibility is a non-issue. Stuff that I ate - tofu, seitan, tempeh are very low processed soy/wheat products and c

What does this mean? After making the state preparation assumption, the classical algorithm can be of same complexity? Or the classical algorithm does not depend on state preparation?

This is from SQLite docs: > SQLite uses POSIX advisory locks to implement locking on Unix. On Windows it uses the LockFile(), LockFileEx(), and UnlockFile() system calls. SQLite assumes that these system calls all work as advertised. If

SQLite comes for free in Python distribution. The only reason why I mentioned it. Of course, just having a nice cross-platform file locking interface would be nice (not the case for Python).

I use a gram scale and eat only plants with home made bread. What can I say? On average it’s probably 1100kcal per day and weight loss seems invisible.

I usually notice severe metabolism slowdown when sitting for prolonged periods of time. I can eat 800-1200 kcal and not lose any weight (and I’m 200lbs). After I start hiking for 4 hours a day I’m losing weight even on 2300 kcal. So it seem

You don't even need the graphs, miles driven per year is a sum. Sums converge to gaussians yet here the deviation was half of mean which means they used a uniform variable generator for miles.
