Hipchat has had integration for everything we have ever needed. Slack is far prettier and more polished though. And lately Hipchat has been unreliable, so we are thinking of moving on that basis.

This is unbelievably neat. So much good news coming out of Joyent recently. LX branded zones revived, funding to make SmartOS Docker compatible and now SDC and Manta are open sourced. I love SmartOS. It feels so elegant and well designed.

I personally wouldn't work from Punspace or anywhere similar in Thailand until the laws are clarified. It's too risky. Even when not under military rule, the Thai state, police and immigration change laws - or their interpretation

We currently use Gmail IMAP with IDLE to support this use case. It works great, so I hope they don't drop IMAP without a suitable replacement like webhooks.

Even over HTTPS it wouldn't be secure. The password is in the URL so would be stored in the users browser history, and possibly also web-server logs and sent as referrer headers with assets on the secured page.

Maybe Fully Homomorphic Encryption will help here? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homomorphic_encryption Not sure how practical this is at the moment, or will be in the future. Hopefully an expert can weigh in ?

All the other UK papers (and the BBC) have barely even REPORTED on any of these issues, exclusives or not. To look at those papers you wouldn't suspect something of this magnitude is even going on.
