Such scales are completely incomprehensible to me

What incentive to cloud providers have to give you that ability? I think they greatly appreciate the ability to accidentally spend a lot of money

Yeah it doesn't make sense to pick something that's not a power of 2 unless you are packing it.

I believe inability to do arithmetic correctly is more common in folks with maths and other STEM degrees

And that's exactly the power of SAT right? It's a universal way of expressing a large set of problems.

I don't see why that couldn't be added as constraints

I think this question pops up every few months and there’s always many ex-software folks in the comments with interesting stories.

Doesn't modularization and compartmentalization increase dependency? I'm curious on how you propose we do both at the same time.

The tool is great and I use it, but I don't really have a deep enough understanding to know how to fix issues in my approach from what looks bad in the plan.

I don't know how many times we are going to try and define UI as data (XML/JSON/whatever). Has it not been sufficiently demonstrated that it doesn't really work in practice?

Can't be leaving out the introduction of AI! Surely these mainframe systems would benefit from some neural networks!

I don't think you've provided any actual reasons to not use uuidv7 or addressed any of the disadvantages of having multiple keys.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say the major third from equal temperament is a horrid thing, but it sure doesn’t hit as well as a true major third

I agree with thinking of exposing an interface, but all data must fit into bytes at some point. It’s best to make it impossible to make it impossible to fuck that up, and also add an interface on top to make it even harder.

So many discrete optimization problems can be translated into linear programs. It's a really powerful set of tools to know, kind of like SAT solvers.

I disagree. Yak shaving, bike shedding etc, are good because they capture something that’s a lot longer to describe in a short form and give you a “mental handle” to the concept.
