Why do people use color schemes when programming, is it cause it looks cool, do they think it makes them more productive, is it cause some people insist on it makes it easier to read code? None of these statements have been proved as far I

How does this really work, is it possible to write such stuff as drivers with a garbage collected language?

Well, that statement is based on a ESRs' quote. "Linux is the open-source community's flagship product."

Well, it's really hard for Linux to make the right decision. The community is so diverse, FSF developing the userland, OSI the kernel and a third party shipping the distribution of them. The GNU/Linux desktop can't be done right, unless you

GNU/Linux is the name to be used on UNIX-like systems that use GNU as its userland and Linux as its kernel. Often called simply "Linux" instead since many people think it sounds better.

What? By "Linux" I assume he mean UNIX-like operating system. As a desktop I guess Mac is the best choice for casual computer users, but the best UNIX-like operating system in general must be OpenBSD.

Of course it doesn't make the game less good, but it's not like this kid did something extremely remarkable thing like some people here seem to make it. That's what makes it a bit ridiculous.

This is a bit ridiculous to be honest. I'm 15 and don't consider myself a programming, in fact I would say I can't program at all. But me and a friend "wrote"(well, we modified a few examples we found online and using a lot of pre-written c

Well, the problem is that I don't have anything to be proud of. All things I've really worked hard with I do without progression. I've tried to learn programming, failed. I've tried to get abs, failed. I've tried to get girlfriend, failed.

I am going to (try to) learn programming next year. I'll start out with SICP, read all chapters twice and watch all the lectures. If that's to difficult I'll read Simply Scheme first.

The suckless community are die hard fans of the good old UNIX and C. They only release projects written in C and RC(a bourne shell clone ported from plan9).
