I agree with the overall sentiment. But there are some counter examples. At least from your list, I believe Asana is doing well. I don't remember there being as much hype with them, however.

There are times when reasoning by analogy isn't optimal. Elon Musk famously preferred going through "first principles" and I find this likely leads to a better more innovative end product. Take payments (my industry) for exam

Steve Jobs ripped Woz off when they were younger. Many people do awful things in the past. Young people (Jody was 16 here?) can be stupid & foolish. Hard to attribute that to the rest of his life with such a simple, "fuck the dude."
