Cool, the name change made me think you were moving away from the old business model (as did the submission title).

With apologies for cynicism, how long will it be a viable pivot for struggling startups to move into the daily deals space? I've seen it 5 times now, once at the behest of the VC, and it clearly can get you to revenue, I just don't know if

Surprised the article didn't mention zferral or extole (or more recently - spreadable from the chargify guys). Actually quora does a better job: http://www.quora.com/Marketing/What-third-party-services-can...

I agree on design/dev, but for freelance/full-time, hourly/salary - both could be options.

Hate to respond to pedantry with more pedantry, but that's a pretty questionable application of micro theory. The main value of using Groupon is that in exchange for offering a deep discount, you get the firehose turned on your business - i

Wow - I actually added that entry about DTSS a few years after my father (Ken Lochner) died. It's kind of a trip to now read it on HN.

I thought the standard for software engineering projects was to take the estimate, bump up a unit and multiply by 2: 1 hour --> 2 days 1 week --> 2 months . . . so 10 years would have been 20 decades :)

Skills don't really compound, it's not like interest where you gain 10%/year on your existing skill set. We forget stuff, and things we learn don't always enhance/build on things we already know.
