Closed source IDEs are if anything the norm: Visual Studio, Android Studio, XCode, IntelliJ, CLion, PyCharm, etc... Even in the "fancy text editor" category things like Sublime were always popular enough.

I love most of what Rust does, but this is something they just got wrong. The + operator should always trap on overflow. Which Rust kinda wanted to do (hence why it does that in debug builds), but then they chickened out about the performan

Arena allocators are not some grand new concept. They're already commonly used in C++ in the places it makes sense to use them. Which is really not that many places, it's a fast but rather niche optimization. There's not a wh

Zig is a love letter to C. It does not do much of anything to address memory management. Doesn't even have any concept of ownership like C++ does (ergo, no equivalent of unique_ptr / shared_ptr). All you get over C is the addition

I would expect all LLMs are going to be better at Rust than Zig - a strong, thorough compiler will simply prevent more mistakes, and the benefits of a "simple" language decreases the larger the code base gets. The more abstraction

Yeah, but those aren't noctua fans. Noctua's claim to fame is being lower noise, not moving the most air. I'm sure somebody is buying a premium low noise-focused fan and then pinning it to max, but that's definitely not

We don't know what Noctua's tolerance is. The clearance in this case has to account for the flexing that will inevitably happen as the fan spins around in an environment than can easily see 50C temperatures. ABS (what Lego uses) b

What geekbench 5 fps are you talking about? Geekbench only has OpenCL and Vulkan scores for the 3090 as far as I can tell, and the M1 Ultra is less than half the OpenCL score of the 3090. And the M1 Ultra was significantly more expensive. F
