You shouldn't need a source for approximating an area with simpler shapes.

I asked if you consider banning private ownership compatible with free markets.

I don't think you would be using the general population as the control group. You're not going to take elite chess kids and then random kids and compare in 10 years and see anything interesting. Elite chess kids will be better con

The existence of different modes of production is an absurd and false dichotomy. Worker co-ops exist today. People are free to make them, and join them if the co-ops will take them. And by socialist system with a free market do you mean one

>Depends on perspective, I would say. When the value rises in a public company, even when it's just the expectation, you have people dumping their wealth (as money) into the company. That's not how it works at all.

I always find it sad when people choose to quote mass murderers and dictators as if they were knowledgeable. You have access to more knowledge, luxuries, and opportunities than kings in the past. Real wealth is consumption and leisure. Even

Capitalism and socialism is a false ideological dichotomy. Mr. Beat has a good video on this. We live in a mixed economy. Not to fall into the "communism is when free stuff" trope, but... Most people like public schools, public ro

That is exactly wrong. Real wealth is goods and services available. You live way better than a king. Your expected lifespan is higher than kings because of access to better food, nutrition, and medical care. You have access to luxuries like

I think it would be cool to track how votes differ depending on where a user was linked from. Being able to see e.g. "x% from hackernews support death penalty, y% from x". You wouldn't just be polling but also showing differe

US homeowners have increased their net worth like $15 trillion since the start of the pandemic. Besides, there's this thing called tax incidence and it's not as simple as "tax the billionaires" because it's not clea

There's a finite amount of money. There's not a finite amount of wealth. Having lots of wealth does not mean other people have less. If that were the case, there'd be as much wealth today as there was 1000 years ago. Making a

This isn't a view thing though. We have the data. What you're saying is what Piketty said. Only issue is, when you account for depreciation, you find that r>g applied to housing (so boomer NIMBYs) not billionaires. This is not

I think you should read up on comparative advantage and the roy model of labor. Forced onshoring is likely to hurt US productivity and large wage gaps arise because of self-selection driven by correlations in productivity across jobs.

It's a good comment but I think to make something intuitive you really need to understand why something exists and I think for most people there just isn't in fact a good reason. If you know it, it's easy to use, so why not?
