Agreed, Fastmail is pretty good at spam filtering. My Gmail account is pretty much full of spam nowdays which seems to suggest Gmail's spam filtering isn't that great.

Interestingly in my country many full service banks have dropped foriegn currency services. They did that during the panademic but never returned back to offering that again. I suspect they make so much money from Visa/Mastercard commi

Have you tried DuckDuckGo? I find it fantastic -- it does both general queries and local country queries well. Anytime I go back to Google (e.g. when I'm setting up a new computer) I am surprised that anyone still uses Google -- the re

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 and I've found it to struggle with basic stuff that is fast and easily done on low end x86 machines. But you're right about the community. When I had trouble with playing videos (massive tearing and frequen

Same here, my passport includes my middle name but I always book my air tickets without my middle name. Have had no issues in about 15+ countries with this approach.

I've found LTE to be both faster and more reliable where I'm attached to a tower that provides LTE and UMTS in the same band (e.g. the 2degrees network in New Zealand uses the 900 MHz band for both UMTS and LTE at many of their si

I like having a newsletter. Goes into my email inbox after signing up my email addtess. Doesn't need a separate app. Doesn't rely on a corporate who might kill my preferred RSS reader. Etc. I liked RSS in its heyday and used Googl

Unfortunately it does bother me. It's so bad I must turn off or at least cover red LEDs before I can sleep. E.g. TVs. Thankfully for our bedroom TV we recently switched to a Sony TV recently which doesn't seem to have a standby LE

Kids (almost) never use Drive. They access everything though apps like Doc, Sheets, etc. Source: was until recently a classroom teacher for 7-10 year olds.

I find it interesting that Arch is considered a gaming-focus Linux distro. Is that really the case? From my experience, I've see Arch as a general-purpose bleeding-edge distro.

And worse, it differs when roaming. I am aware there are networks where if you are their customer VoLTE works but if you are roaming onto their network it does not work at all. With the exact same device.

Previews are an app feature, not in the RCS protocol itself. I see message previews for SMS/MMS messages on Apple/Android devices despite the SMS/MMS protocol having no concept of previews. Most likely true for RCS as well.
