Do these phone home to Xiaomi?

They haven't done much better with many of these. And I suspect these would also have succeeded independently of Google.

As a teacher of the Deaf, teaching in sign language, I've found the video quality of various video conferencing platforms to be very variable. I wish Zoom had more tuning options for Video so we can optimize our video streams for bette

I'm assuming they use standard codecs like H.264/MPEG-4 and AAC for wide hardware compatibility. Zoom runs on a large variety of platforms including mobile devices. Would be very surprised if it was the likes of Opus etc.

You can't do that anymore. You either have to buy their server or use their cloud, from my understanding. I am another considering migration away from them for this reason as well.

I use the official dock and just leave it at home attached to my TV. Are there any advantages to using third-party docks over the official ones? The official one seems to work well--it charges my Switch when unused (I actually mostly use th

This is not the case in all countries. I am aware that telcos in New Zealand, for example, will not accept emergency calls from phones that don't have a SIM card. However they will accept emergency calls from any phone with a valid SIM

I would say it's around 50/50 here in New Zealand.

Why assume it was USPS? It would have been handled by a number of agencies on its journey. The customs one mentioned by another person seems to be another plausible reason.

Is the quality sufficent for classroom teaching? I use both for work as a teacher and I find Zoom much better than Hangouts. Zoom (when it works) is nearly flawless. Hangouts on the other hand has poor video, limited faciliation functions,

Zoom seem to have switched in recent times to using a Meeting ID and password. Most meeting links I get now are very long URLs which seem to hash the meeting ID and password. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

Zoom vs Hangouts is really like going from VHS to DVD. Hangouts' horribly pixelated video and frequent dropped frames and/or loss of video paints a huge contrast to Zoom's good video quality with very few glitches. Am surpris

This is possibly so Zoom can show other Zoom meetings you have been invited to. This is a useful feature as it means I can directly join a Zoom meeting without having to go through the Calendar.

This is an excellent point. I am a teacher and my students have school-issued iPads which they are not able to just add their own apps. Even I can't control what apps they have loaded, I have to go through the school's processes t

How on earth is this considered a reasonable accommodation for people with access needs? Stinks of something created with no consultation whatsoever with the accessibility community.

A shout out to those involved in Acorn, RISC OS, etc around the late 1980s and throughout the 1990's. Around 1992 or so, our family bought our first computer (when I was around 5 years old) which was an Acorn A3000 running (if I recall
