In New Zealand, the local EFTPOS network is basically a home-grown network that the major NZ banks established in the 1980s's and have continued operating on a shoe-string budget ever since. For the most part merchants only have to pay

None of the other current browsers support XP either. Chrome stopped supporting XP a few years back. Edge isn't available at all on XP. Even IE wasn't backported so XP users are stuck with the last version of IE with XP support. I

Just out of interest I looked at Windy.com on Firefox/Linux and it looks fine? No blue/yellow banding. Wind gusts seem to show up fine. I've also had a look at the other stuff (e.g. waves, clouds, etc) which all seem to work

It fails on other browsers as well (e.g. Firefox on Linux) and someone has discovered[1] that it may well be a Netlify bug (sending more data than it's supposed to). I agree with your point that that Apple could do better but in this c

I have a old Gmail account from years ago I don't use as my main account anymore. It's amazing how much spam messages it gets. I swear my main account with Fastmail receives a tiny fraction of the spam despite the address for that

I recall having to provide this around 2013 or so around the time I got an iPhone 5. But possibly it was part of their credit card verification? That could explain why some have been asked and not others.

Can you cite examples of prepay SIMs that charge only $1/GB without any strings attached? I've travelled overseas and have looked into local SIMs and can't really recall any that cheap with reasonable restrictions (e.g. valid

Swisscom as a older RSP probably is sitting on a huge block of IPv4 addresses, whereas newer RSPs usually have much smaller blocks. Hence older RSPs tend to continue with IPv4 as they have enough addresses to do this, whereas newer ones are

Are you using their CPE, and a recent one at that? Several RSPs here in New Zealand are starting to enable IPv6 on new CPE gear they supply to end users (although Spark, our equivalent to your BT, has remained the only large provider to not

That becomes a problem when you work across both ecosystems. I use devices in both ecosystems so an independent password sync utility is necessary for me to be able to access the same set of passwords on my macOS, Linux, Windows and Android

That's not the case everywhere. Depending on your network's configuration, it's entirely possible to have areas of high traffic where 3G service is so poor even 4G is miles ahead. This is because networks may decide to provid

The phone should still work for other functions so if stuff like data etc stopped working entirely it does seem possible it was due to a SIM being blocked/disabled.

I note Firefox is turning this on country by country. Perhaps they could turn it on for certain countries (possibly including yours, Australia) but leave it off for others (like New Zealand where all ISPs don't interfere with DNS).

In many orgs three days of no email would be a serious show stopper. I dare say that if I was CTO of a company that relies on email (which is pretty much the majority of companies) I would be wary of choosing IBM for anything critical from
