I pay far less for AWS than I ever did for the providers in this article. Clearly YMMV depending on your workload and also how well you optimise for a cloud providers strengths. Hence making broad statements is unhelpful. There's a pla

That would explain why my experience with Win95 was so good. I never really understood all the hate for it (especially given 98/98SE/ME/XP, which came after 95, all of which I never really liked due to the all the extra "

I've owned several Apple laptops over the last 20 years for both personal and work use and they've all had reduced battery life over time. I've suffered one recall, another one which failed 1 month past the warranty and which

Is the price cheap enough to do that? Last time I looked it was much cheaper to go with a local carrier almost anywhere I looked.

As a Deaf person using sign language, Zoom is essential for virtual meetings as its the only platform I've used that consistently delivers acceptable video performance. Teams suffers from random issues that just crops up out of nowhere

I've used borg with rsync.net for several years for my primary off-site backup and have had fantastic reliability and support from them. They cover the usage of borg on their website[1] and support a range of other backup tools as well

Seems to be up to the manufacturers and/or the carriers. Samsung doesn't have this for example even on my S21 running Android 13.

My Samsung S21 running Android 13 doesn't have this option. My carrier is One NZ but from what I understand it's just stock Samsung firmware/software without anything specific to my carrier. Curious what Samsung phone you hav

My Samsung S21 running the latest Android (13) doesn't offer the option to disable 2G while keeping 4G/5G. The list is literally: 2G/3G/4G/5G, 2G/3G/4G, 2G/3G, 3G only, or 2G only. If you want to keep

Using the backspace key to go back is a massive PITA in browsers that have that keybinding set. Have accidently lost form input by pressing backspace, so frustrating. Backspace should only delete a character in a form and not go to a differ

This is also an issue in Android and desktop browsers. I've also seen some websites actually go to extra effort to prevent autofill from working.

This happens on non-government systems too. The only system I've experienced this has been a financial institution's system. Frustrating as it meant I had to make the trip into one of their branches to get it reset.

People should use their ISP's DNS as well which is often <5ms. I've never bothered using an off-net DNS provider for this reason given how much faster is it to use an on-net caching DNS resolver provided by my ISP.
