Haha! Well put. I was/am in the exact same boat. I still have a fantasy that someday they will release some sort of “pro developer” edition of iOS with a proper terminal emulator and normal file system access. One can dream.

Geekbench is a fairly understood metric isn’t it? It at least attempts to simulate ‘general’ workloads.

Does that work with AU/VST plugins or just the native reaper effects?

Super cool! I wonder how/if it handles latency compensation when used with other plugins.

Henry Rollins uses a great food analogy: Listening to the music you know and love is like carbohydrates, discovering new stuff is the protein(the meat).

It’s a shame that finding the corruption in a few years is generally the best case scenario in these type of situations. Long after the public has any real memory or care to actually do anything about it. A handful of scapegoats get prose

I don’t understand the “revamp” or “sci-fi” terms here. Does “revamp” mean they do demo day via zoom now? Does “sci-fi accelerator” just refer to their pre-pandemic willingness to fund blockchain and AR/VR?

What are they using to connect to these services? An up to date windows 10 laptop? A MacBook? You are making a lot of assumptions about a lot of people. Even on a completely updated, modern machine try throttling your bandwidth to 56k and p

You’ve hit the crux of the situation here: you either support some things being nationalized for the greater benefit of society, or you take the neoliberal approach and say “there is no society, may the best corporation win”. I have no doub

You seem to be disconnected from rural life completely. Many people rely on physical mail for things like social security checks, taxes, bills, communication with family and friends. Remember, broadband never actually got rolled out everywh

More and more poor people who do jobs to serve the rich will definitely have no choice but to go back to work despite the disproportionate risk they take on due to their lack of adequate health care and prevalence of preexisting conditions.

Right. Which is similar to what I think will end this recession/depression: a vaccine. Now I would ask which path would have us coming out of this current crisis stronger: 40% of GDP spent on a “New New Deal” or 10% GDP invested in att

Somewhat related, but The New Deal basically invested 40% of the GDP into ‘building’ and paying Americans to do it. The US in 2020 just invested roughly 10% of the GDP to prop up some corporations, and more or less called it a day.

The deaths in NY,LA,CA, and MI include many, many people under 70. Also, you’ve responded several times without answering my question: How many of your family, friends, and acquaintances are you willing to put up for the experiment?
