Apple may want this so that they can have attribution for ad placements in their own products such as Apple News while still being to able market themselves as a corporation who cares about privacy.

Isn’t cross platform/multi vendor development the cause? Static binaries are just a form of vertical integration.

They seem to be hammering home the point that the passwords were always stored on ‘secure encrypted infrastructure’ but the data was not hashed, so anyone with access to googles ‘secure encrypted infrastructure’ could read the data. The enc

Ha! That was the thing I was most excited to learn about. I’ve never come across it in any codebases I’ve worked on, but will definitely begin training myself to use it by default over a normal set.

It seems that the data was not all public, so this was more than just aggregated scraped public info. So that means Chatr did some combination of: - Directly exploit the Instagram API bug before it was patched - purchased the leaked data fr

Just having the social, familial, and cultural freedom and encouragement to practice abstract thought would be an important first step, otherwise the teaching isn’t very effective.

Citation needed. They use Bing Ads, but I’m not sure if their actual search results are just proxied Bing results.

Agreed. It also sounds like a great way to (ab)use a dumb commodity via ephemeral Google accounts to distribute data.

> So with the network at our test site the max latency is decreased by roughly 99%, which is a nice improvement. Calling 50s to .4s a “nice improvement” is an awesome understatement!

I’ve experimented with Fabio, Envoy and Nginx, but keep coming back to haproxy for its reliability and deep feature set. Things like stick tables and the acl system are insanely flexible/powerful.

Somehow this reminds me of the “Explicit Language” stickers on music packaging that Tipper Gore and the PMRC brought about in the 80s. Those stickers sold product!

I find it much easier to maintain terraform code that allows me to use multiple cloud providers than if I had to do the same without terraform. You seem to have some insight to share here though, could you expound? *edit typo

Systems designed around long TTLs make this problem worse. I love the default of 90 days for Let’s Encrypt. It forces some good discipline and hygiene. Wish there was a better solution for short lived CAs

I’d guess most of the interfaces we see in 2019 are roughly 2009 designs and implementations. I think it’s changing, but many of the manufacturers started out by putting software in the same test/certify cycle as the hardware.
