There are NFC capable yubikeys, but I think in general the Secure Enclave of the phone itself is used to store auth creds.

“Gentrification seems to be a noisy minority issue” It does tend to affect minorities more. See Inglewood and Boyle Heights for recent examples. Expensive gelato and coffee shops are not things these communities “would kill for”. I understa

Don’t discount the gentrification issue. In places like Austin, San Fran, and West LA the “techlash” started when small businesses and non-tech workers could no longer afford to pay rent in their city, and their culture was pretty much repl

“I tried looking into Vim / NeoVim a few times to understand what all the hype was about.” Is vim really getting hyped anywhere? If so that must be one of the longest running hype trains in tech.

On first glance this looks great and solves a real problem. Not sure how I’ve missed this. Is there much of a plug-in ecosystem for this to support various auth backends? *edit grammar

When compared to plugging into a grounded AC wall socket or even a standard USB port, I find positioning an iphone on a wireless charger far easier.

“However, after further investigation and examination, DynaRisk updated its report to state that the combined number of emails leaked is 982,864,972 to be exact, and not 2 billion as previously reported.” The headline seems wrong.

Hasn’t this been a solved problem for a while with STUN / TURN servers? The centralized server just handles the negotiation, so that the p2p clients can do their thing.

Amidst the Lean startup and agile craze, the concept of a set of ‘Minimal Marketable Features’ seemed to have been lost. ‘Minimum Viable Product’ is not the same as a product that is ready to capture real market share, just a validation che

And Apple seems unlikely to do this given their growth is focused on services now. They need as many people on their devices as possible in order to sell them services. iOS 12 has a pretty long list of supported devices, and objectively imp

Congrats on the big milestone. I’ve been extremely happy working with HashiCorp tools for the past several years. Vault provides sooooo much out of the box, it’s hard for me to imagine spinning up a new project without it anymore. Which lea

SAFe is probably the worst offender of what the article is focused on. I can’t think of a more anti-agile statement than ‘RTFM’. A more productive statement might be ‘Update The Fucking Manual’.

Exactly. I’m a little surprised to hear that this one of the biggest feature requests from the community. Once you are in hashicorp-land it’s not a big jump to spin up a consul+vault cluster and store your encrypted state remotely.

It was once explained to me as a dam vs a swath. You will never successfully disentangle/stop the madness and constant flow of thoughts(good, bad) but you can sort of detach and tread water to watch the current.

This seems very much inline with much of Carl Jungs work and a lot of the western esoteric literature where there is a big emphasis on acknowledging and objectively analyzing the ‘bad stuff’.

Citation needed. As a user, my main gripes even with ‘great implementations’ are: - not knowing how ‘long’ the page is as the native browser scroll bars can not be accurate. - breaks ‘find on page’ - page up/page down keys rarely work

Surprised by the decreased socket performance, are sockets not a first-class citizen anymore? Everyone just went to http? Anyone have clues as to why this has degraded so much over the years?

This is silly. Apple definitely has a track record of killing small companies every WWDC, but in this case the ‘stacks’ feature has been in and out of OS X betas for many many years. IIRC they have patents on the feature.

Docker acquired unikernel.org awhile back, so another path to adoption could be for them to roll something useful out to users of the existing docker pipeline.
