I've used a PHEV with 40km of range on electric. It was 100% enough for doing daily driving. I would love to see a small town-oriented not shitboxy EV that's cheaper than fiat500/mini-e.

Linux? yes. Popular distro? not really. Lack of MMU means that all the processes (and shared objects) use the same memory space, so unless you have some way of randomizing where things go (like SELinux), two processes will step on each othe

Cortex M* lack MMU, which is necessary for any normal linux distro. Cortex M0 and M4 are just beefy microcontrollers.

I've read "Wabi-Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers" by Leonard Koren 978-0981484600. It's a bit pretentious, but helped me think about the concept on my own.

Thing that helped me with avoiding this kind of problem was learning about wabi sabi[0]. A mindset of accepting and finding beauty in imperfection. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabi-sabi

As with all engineering there's a tradeoffs dance. The F1 one cars pull insane G's in the bends, and all that downforce requires a lot of power. I'd like to know what kind of g-forces those FE cars reach. I think the best way

220mph is typical speed on longer straights, so I guess It should have been "F1 cars on average have a top speed between 220 and 230mph.

I'm using vmware fusion to run ubuntu vms for my daily work. The virtualized 20.04 aarch64 is on par with my x64 desktop (5900x from amd). Surprisingly in both, ST and MT loads. The laptop never runs out of juice at the end of the day

I liked the infamous butterfly keyboard more. I could type much faster on it, and it felt more solid, but almost everyone I know had an issue with them.

> having a fossil fuel car for a year does not exceed the emissions of that flight. That's true (-ish). Here are the numbers: Modern pure-ICE cars don't got below 100g/km of CO2. Round trip NYC-LHR yields 1 ton of CO2. So

Just a reminder that 256kbit is A LOT when using modern codecs. http://soundexpert.org/encoders-256-kbps Where is this info form, btw? I'd love to read more specs. BT5 has a 2Mbit throughput for LE.

The processor looks at the future instructions it will run, can see that some things can be run ahead of time, and can run multiple multiple instructions in parallel (on the same core). You could run individual multiplications in parallel.

My PHEV - mini countryman - can go up to 140km/h on pure electric. It even has an option in the car settings where driving on pure electric can be the default setting. Same goes for BMW PHEVs and Porsche ones.

You're right. This is why not cars, but fuel - you know, like the source of the carbon - should be controlled/taxed. I also think that any car can be driven in an inefficient manner. The 1.7t PHEV I use has been amazing in terms o

Shame they don't write about people like me, which drive on pure electric all the time. ICE kicks in once per month on on longer journeys. So effectively i have +inf times lower emission.

GNU/Linux. As in my top post - kernel 5.9. Arch's wiki page is close to useless for Zen2. Renoir currently reports comically low `scaling_available_frequencies` - in my case: `1700000 1600000 1400000` even when plugged in.

My 4750u (in T14 thinkpad) doesn't go to 4GHz clock in the first 10s of load when on battery. After 10s it jumps to 4GHz+. Which means that for my bursty workloads like running unit tests in python, linters, etc. I get 60% of performan
