The focus is on Tensor Cores[0], which are pretty NN specific. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/tensor-cores/

As a Slav I feel offended by changes like this, mainly because it means that someone saw a word that - in a totally different context - and thought of the bad meaning. What next? s/killall/pleaseturnoff? I also have a bad feeling

Lol. So that would be a +100% upgrade for fxtentacle.

I don't think people are considering replacing a gaming 2kg+ laptop with a fanless macbook. Authors included two popular Turing dGPUs for comparison.

I have a theory on why ST perf is always the most important metric for me, and some other folks. When you're waiting for something synchronously, like rendering a webpage, stuff to open, etc. you're usually running a ST load. For

So a 60W TDP dGPU (gtx 960M) is ~35% faster than this iGPU? I think this is what they called a Rival.

My guess would be that's the base freq it will go to under full load on a fanless MBA. It's like the "official" 1.1GHz base clock of the i5-1030NG7.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook_Pro#Technical_specific... You can see how this is one of the things that changed yearly for the last 5 years. Exactly every year. I wonder if the people bashing this M1 were bashin

I already filed a ticket. I was told that if I followed community guidelines I wouldn’t get banned. Thanks, “Jessica”. Many of the oculus support pages use Facebook, and I’m banned from reaching them, which is pure irony in this case.

Today my OQ2 arrived. I created an account just for the purpose of pairing the device. I used my real credentials and a gmail email address. I got banned immediately by FB, and cannot init the device. FU FB.

I got this 4750U in the T14. The CPU performance is great, but the iGPU is terrible when connected to an external 2160p60 screen. Animations for stuff like maximizing window have 2-3fps tops. iGPU from intel in 10510U manages 10+ fps. (5.8

I think this game made me a better engineer. I'm not saying it was worth investing hundreds of hours, but it was fun playing. One of very few games I really enjoyed in the last decade.

Not apple to apple because we're still comparing binaries for different architectures. Apple kit is running x86_64 binary and Surface is running an arm binary. The hardware comparison should be done once geekbench is recompiled to armv

With translation the cod will be translated before it starts running. With emulation it's more like a VM, where each instruction run is translated to the other archs counterpart. In other words, consider an imaginary program that has o

I think the "in emulation" bit uncertain. I think this got AOT translated to armv8. Also not very apples-to-apples comparison.

Nice. So I understand that AVX2 is not bringing the CPU's clock down. Got any sources for power consumption figures/comparisons of those AVX units?

I wonder about the Joules per byte. AFAIK AVX units are quite expensive energy-wise.
