Protection against a rogue hypervisor is the main benefit of SEV. The whole point is to raise VM security to equivalent of a bare metal machine with encrypted memory and no exposed DMA channels. Protection from other guests is a nice side e

They should already have enough control to implement what you describe without changing the game at all, unless the game is doing something to introduce latency outside the drivers control such as threaded rendering I’m very interested to

It amounts to waiting until just before vsync to start rendering a frame CPU side, in the hope that the frame is fresher than what you would get from a scattergun ‘mailbox’ approach aka vsync disabled It should theoretically be possible to

When you for example upgrade from windows 10 to 11, if your partitions are a mess it will shrink your main C partition to make room for a recovery partition at the end Doesn’t really justify putting it at the end on fresh installs, but I gu

That doesn’t make sense, at the same bitrate encoding frames with no dependency on previous frames can’t possibly look better or be the best the codec can offer, or there would be no reason for other frame types to exist

I’m struggling to imagine a use case for removing bits of a video and then saving that intermediate back out without editing or reencoding but if that’s what a video editing workflow calls for then fair play!

Why would only I-frames make a (positive) difference? Sure it makes decoding for seeking easier/faster but it should end up being lower quality at equivalent bitrate?
