Made the site as a very simple way to get a HTML file online. ~7.4kB in total with no external dependencies. As an experiment, all edits / created pages are visible here: https://html.cafe/gallery

I created this simple site over a couple of days to host live HTML snippets. It's extremely lightweight (~7.6kB) and there's no registration.

I also enjoy looking for interesting spots on Google Maps. I actually run another site [1] which is similar to this one, but dedicated to satellite imagery, and which lets you submit interesting views. It doesn't have a great deal of t

Thanks for the suggestion. I might put a small 3d globe in with a marker. You can also click the Google logo at the bottom left to see the location on Google Maps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to keep it as simple as possible, but I suppose a filter wouldn't add too much clutter.

There are some interesting, lesser known locations on Google Street View which I thought would be interesting to stroll around (virtually) during these times. For example, one of my favourites is Battleship Island, an abandoned Japanese isl

It's as much as a 28x increase in price. For Street View imagery, the cost has gone from $0.5 per 1000 views to $14 / 1000. Unlike with maps, Street View lacks a real alternative. I'm seeing my own costs, for a site which I r

The era of mashups / cool web projects using Google Maps has ended. Their recent 28x price change (from $0.50 / 1000 views to $14 per 1000) has been cleverly disguised by the simultaneous rebranding to the "Google Maps Platfo

I'm putting together statements from those affected by the huge price increase to send to the Google Maps product team as a joint message. If you'd like to add yours, please email me at nick@instantstreetview.com

I run https://www.instantstreetview.com which does 100,000+ 'map loads' per day. The price for these has effectively increased by a factor of 28 ($0.50 -> $14 per 1000), which is completely unsustainable ($1,400 dai
