I was too. Now I find the superior formats sound better, but more importantly I find they hurt my ears less. I found mp3 and lower formats really hurt my ears, frequently causing uncomfortable numbness.

Exactly my experience with tech follows which I enjoy most of all. I've found it entertaining, informative and inspiring. I've never used twitter and stopped using Facebook. Also, so far no issues with spam on G+.

HN is truly amazing. It seems I had a dangerously nonchalant view of lightning in the area I live. I now consider myself well versed on its hidden dangers.

It's for lack of research, distinguished professors, facilities... certainly not the quality of students. Graduating from St. Stephen's nearly 30 years ago I can say that the average student there was pretty damn smart and really hard worki

Yes, that's a good catch. I think it was only late into the '80s that full sit-ups began to be deprecated. I did notice the 7-minute work out emphasizes abdominal crouches which is good. However, 5BX did also cause knee and elbow problems (

My choice of words is intended to convey their meaning in everyday parlance. If I seek egolessness over egofullness, is that not a rejection of the latter over the former in everyday parlance? As you have correctly stated, Buddhism is not a

Are there times when it's helpful to say "stop being such a crybaby"? You betcha! That's the only way to move away from over indulgence in our selves, a decidedly big problem in this day and age. Is anyone saying "stop being such a crybaby"

Time to step back a bit and consider how we reached this stage of the discussion in the first place. The OP essentially quoted Matthieu Ricard's book, "The Monk and the Philosopher". It was all about Buddhism and without anything close to a

In Buddhism "the very real issues of fear, discouragement and depression", and indeed the entire range of human emotions, are themselves considered fabrications of the mind that are laid bare and exposed as such through the practice of medi

Again, you are right to say that there are many Buddhist ways, not one. While the goal is enlightenment, most Buddhist texts constantly talk about the different ways it has been achieved. My view of Buddhism is heavily Mahayana and Vajrayan

True, Buddhism is no different from Hinduism, Christism, Muhammadism or any other ism in that it cannot escape the additions to the core teachings. Errors in narration, translation and interpretation all contribute to giving one a good reas

I've read a bit about high intensity training (tabata, hiit, crossfit, etc.) and there seems to be quite a good bit of evidence supporting their utility. The 7-minute workout may well fit in that same category. However, as an old fogie, I r

I'm of the same view. I think there is some fuzzy logic going on here: If the majority are 1/10 developers (as the op asserts) and thus form the baseline x, aren't the 1/1 developers by definition 10x developers?

This seems to be a frequently asked question. From what I've seen on the videos and forums, the Datomic team is also well aware of situations in which this may be legally necessary and are working on providing ways to handle this.

Like most technologies, Datomic builds on ideas and concepts that already exist, and would find it hard to set itself apart by simply latching on to a single idea or concept. So if it were "just another" graph database and nothing more, I'd
