I guess that would be re.escape(string.punctuation), I've never looked/thought about it though.

Not all Hebrew letters are different when they appear at the end of a word, just 4 out of 22 letters (if I remember correctly) do.

Someone actually just posted the llvm development mailing list with a backend they wrote for LLVM so that it can generate JVM bytecode (in the same way in generates x86, PPC, etc.) and it uses this lib, cool stuff.

I think that's a little unfair to people using ORMs. Obviously I'd hope people don't want to avoid knowledge, but I'll be damned if I want to write SQL, it's not fun for me. That being said I contribute to the ORM of my framework of choic

The PyPy JIT is currently less than perfectly optimized for memory usage, and there are a few leaks related to it. However, without the JIT PyPy has a better memory footprint than CPython, so it's likely that the situation will improve mar

PyPy is fully compatible with CPython2.5, however it is not compatible with C extensions.

Python 3.0 introduces the nonlocal keyword which allows you to assign to closed over names.

We aren't talking about lambdas, we are talking about closures. Lambdas are simple syntactic sugar for a function definition that has a single expression, closures are a concept to capture the outer scope.

Python had them tacked on after the fact (version 2.0 as I recall, or was it 2.2?), they work pretty nicely IMO, as long as you treat functions as first class objects the whole time you're ok.

I don't consider the tests.py issue to be "part of using a framework" its just as bug. However solving the problem properly is a harder problem (right ow djangos app cache is a part of the orm, the right fix is to have a real app cache tha

I'm the author (although not the submitter), I didn't intend this as any sort of flame-bait, I was just curious how well Django did at this stuff (a long time ago I remember seeing a better error message wiki page).

Really, some MS students would struggle to understand it? I'm an undergraduate myself and I have no real knowledge of Haskell and I found it to be a pretty easy read. Major congrats to the student who worked on it though.

Yes, the Unladen Swallow people know that Py3k is the future. They also know that Google has a shit ton of Py2.X code that it's their job to make fast. That's why they're developing against Python2.X and then when it's time to merge back

Sorry this assumes that you wanted consistent ordering, not necessarily that you want to be able to create arbitrary ordering for it. So you'd have insert ordering.

Why not use a hashtable with a linked list running through it (basically the python ordered dictionary class without the mapping). I believe ruby 1.9 uses these for its default hash type.
