This is possible in ruby too, probably in a lot of languages. I've rewritten someobject#[] plenty of times to have cleaner code.

Just set your peer limit to a small number. Your client shouldn't be connected to more than a couple peers at a time, and the tracker should be able to make sure you can find good peers.

At no point did I imply it's garbage because it's FOSS. I'm always down for more FOSS, and don't ever paint me otherwise. It's bad because the protocol is heavy and complex. Plenty of technical complications detai

You couldn't be less coherent about this. Desktop development has stagnated because of the proliferation of web technologies, not because desktop frameworks aren't very good. Qt is great, gtk is great, hell, with the right configu

Matrix is an extremely heavy protocol, not suitable for business use imo. Riot is really obnoxious to use and get set up, and is also extremely resource hungry. I don't think you're very familiar with chat protocols if you think i

I've been making this exact case since it came to popularity. There's tons of FOSS alternatives! No excuses!

Atom is somehow even heavier than emacs. Because EVERY editor should definitely include the bloat of a web browser.

Yes, but racket is a terrible language to work with. I've mentioned for years that drracket needs a general sexpr mode and integrated terminal for something like geiser. They don't listen. I am working on a general purpose solutio

The biggest problem with lisp adoption imo is that the first step of every path begins with emacs. Emacs needs to die for lisp to flourish in a more modern editor. Light Table was a good start, but we need some power behind similar projects

I already use Bing full time. Inline searches are getting better but all basic Google functionality is basically there. Fuck Google.

Amazing how I didn't make any economic claims whatsoever about either state. People like you ruin conversations about politics. I don't give half a shit how much money California pulls in, I'd never go back, I'll never h

The assumption "threadsafe until proven otberwise" has bitten so many people, you'd think they would eventually learn. Oh wait, they're Java programmers. ;p

Gedit is fantastic. Thanks for all the work on it. I used it for years before VS Code, and I still use it outside of work on my personal projects. Amazing how much work you can get done by just typing the damn code into the editor, sometime

Something you might not know about California. (I lived there for a few years) They will support LITERALLY ANYTHING as long as a lawmaker tells them it's going to help them. They'll regulate ANYTHING for any reason. It's been

Funny enough, I think you've actually hit the nail on hm the head about what makes go programmers so irritating, that they think the go spec has somehow taken into account "the right way" for every possible problem. It's
