Well, apart from the fact that UNIX-like systems have traditionally dumped core files in programs' working directories if they crash, so needing a script to clean them up. Linux still does, though many distros set ulimit or /proc&

Not if the crisis involves mains power outage - cell towers don't generally have backup power so mobile phones will be useless. Edit: Adding generators/batteries to a significant fraction of cell towers is (probably) impractical d

The argument about not being able to run SSH on the server seemed a bit weak, surely just stick two NICs in there, one for management + one for user-space stuff?

Nope - sadly that's not always sufficient. "Star Eyewear" and "Wow Facktor" are "Fulfilled by Amazon" so there's a good chance their stock is co-mingled with Amazon's own stock in the same bin. I

Don't know about other poster, but I always thought that while you can make docker images for Java apps that include the Oracle JRE, there are restrictions if you want to distribute them - see http://www.oracle.com/tech
