I think they’re one of the manufacturers that has a whitelist of wireless cards as well. So sometime you can’t even replace it with something that works.

I may have been a little biased in trying to sway OP, as I still have a 2015 15" which I plan to use until it dies or I do.

Well, this may totally destroy my productivity today... Also, just a note: you may want to make it more apparent that the "Top 100-200" is 2 different links. Took me a while to figure out why I ended up in two different places on

Why not just continue to use the 2015 13" rMBP? It outclasses a Raspi + Nexdoc in every way I can think of, and if you still have it it's free :D Since 2015s doesn't have the T2 nonsense and you were fine with linux on the rp

In part 2 you mention the use of sub_filter (never heard of that. adding it to my toolbelt!) and said it was kind of ugly. Honestly given the circumstance, that's a really elegant solution. Didn't even need to touch the internals!

That's ~95% of what I jailbreak for. Just getting rid of (or hiding) junk I don't want to see/be able to get to. I'll look into this. Thanks!

That thing is a masterpiece of modern engineering. Also, the tach labeling gave me a good giggle. edit: I just noticed the multi-meter glued to the "dash". Nice.

I swear that said titans before. Or I'm losing it. (Probably the second) Either way there are certainly options other than nvidia's most expensive consumer end card.

by kiddico 7y ago
I feel like there's a few more cost effective options than getting a $1000 card every few years lol. Geforce now probably isn't it, but titans are overkill (unless you're also using them for work.)

Mintty/Cygwin has a similar utility[1] for images (I've not tested it over ssh. Should be the same idea though) [1] https://github.com/mintty/utils/blob/master/showimg

I can't think of a brand that would be a harder sell for the sort of people that want an EV right now. In my mind it screams "big for the sake of big", not efficient or environmentally friendly...

Not saying that it can hit 1TB/s, but I wouldn't put too much trust in one benchmark. I got 704 GB/s on my machine[1] using their test. [1] https://imgur.com/a/tq3nEz5
