I am using LFS as a primary OS for Linux development and on servers. I can tell my story how I ended up with LFS in the forest of Linux distributions. Some time ago when I started to learn Linux I have tried a lot of different distributions

I down voted because you give a dangerous advice. The concentration of salt in sea water is higher than in urine. Drinking sea water rises the level of sodium in blood very quickly which sends signal to your kidneys to get rid of that salt.

For those who don't want to download: it's 1.7 MiB of assembler instructions with comments. Looking at this you start to understand how hard game development was in 80's (this game is from 1986).

Quasicrystals are an interesting thing. Basically all common crystals can be represented by translation of a small unit cell in 3D space. OTOH quasicrystals are structured forms of matter which cannot be represented by repetition of such un

This is kind of chicken-and-egg problem. Today most established journals with high impact factors (= prestigious) are non-open-access. Publishing in or being a reviewer of a high impact factor non-open-access journal looks much better in a

Maybe I used a bad word here. What I meant by 'buggy' is that if you'll look at commit history there are a lot of fixes for problems that could be easily avoided in other languages (like memory leak here [1]). [1] https://github.com/torval

With all respect to Linus. This project is about 4800 SLOC of C. I wonder how much shorter and less buggy it would be had he chosen some higher level language.

A process of genes expression is when information from your genes translates to the proteins which are primary regulatory entities in cells. "Affects your genes" implies that somehow your genes are changed permanently. MicroRNAs affect the

The title of the Discover Magazine article is link bait bullshit. It suggests that what you eat affects your genes. What the authors of the Science paper really found is that plant microRNAs can survive digestion in mammals. These plant mic

I think it's because VS UI visual designer generates only C# code and doesn't work with other languages. Anyway you can build UI in C# and the rest in any .Net language you prefer.

The article is from 2002. I think now Haskel might be the best alternative. In 2002 though OCaml tools were probably better and more mature than Haskel ones.

In addition to #4. I don't know about IMDB's relations with releasing companies but the ratings for many movies behave strangely. When a movie is released the rating is very often around 8 fading to 6 in several weeks when more people vote.

I am not a design expert either. But red tables on dark background feel uncomfortable for eyes when you are in a dark room. I'd suggest to make them darker (which will also add some contrast to the white text) and to use a more neutral colo
