Well, there IS some of "this hardware can't support X feature". But another reason some phones haven't been upgraded is that they're running custom Android builds, courtesy of the manufacturer or carrier - so those take longer to get updat

Fair point (for the most part), but the illustration graphic shows a Nexus One... which was indeed released with 2.1 (the latest and greatest). Not terribly material, just silly. Now, on the substance: the reason why many of the phones lag

Depends what you're doing... if you're making a fairly low-level utility, then I'd carefully check out the available APIs for whatever you'll need to mess with (i.e. SMS). Otherwise, as far as supporting device differences like, say, multi

There is a branding issue here - technically, there's a distinction between "Android" and "Android with Google"... but what users can tell the difference? On the other hand, most of my friends and acquaintances don't actually think of "An

Independent of the merits of Palm's products or marketing strategy, it's nice to see a CEO communicate more-or-less plainly with employees - especially when things aren't going so great.

I'm fairly certain that for most IE6 users, the reason isn't complacency (or even ignorance). It's lack of control - corporate environments with "business-critical" ActiveX controls (yes, really), kiosks and so forth.

True. Which is why I'd think twice switching email providers. Obviously you make a decision every time you give another entity any information, and storing data with Google/Facebook/et. al. carries risks as well. But, as others have pointe

And even the two GSM carriers (T-Mobile/AT&T) have different frequencies for 3G, so even though you can move an unlocked Nexus One across their voice networks, if you want 3G your choice of device determines your carrier.

Django isn't Rails-inspired - they were developed at around the same time, with no real awareness of each other (at first). As to the merits of "form" classes and post handlers, I think the complexity is only there if you need it, if you're
