At a place I considered very dysfunctional I once had a record of 8.5 hours of meetings scheduled for the day. I went to my manager and said "we have way too many meetings" and he replied back "if you don't like meetings

I believe you may be confusing "stand up" from scrum/agile with a "standing" meeting meaning a meeting with a weekly or some other recurring cadence. A stand up done right is IMHO not a problem and effective. Variou

This is a lot different though. Banks were the actual dealers of the securities in the big short- you were actually buying and selling to the bank itself. Robinhood and stock brokers, you aren't buying and selling to them- their primar

There are special benefits provided for those under low incomes in many jurisdictions. If you go from $24,999 to $25,000 you may see some supplemental food income benefits go from $400 a month to $200 a month (not an actual example- but you

A lot of this happens when people lose sight of the goals of doing agile, and instead become focused (you might even say obsessed) with just the rituals involved- IE the daily standup, the burndown chart, etc. These also tend to be the orga

you should be happy someone explained it to you- I feel that notation was overlooked tremendously in my math education- I actually just brought this up in a thread yesterday. It was like "oh, we have this dx now... k."

Do any of you all have some tips for understanding mathematical notation? I feel this is often poorly explained, and it feels like a language all its own that just does not speak to me. I did pretty well in calculus, but I still don't

Not really. Aside from the warez and books and a few tech channels, I found it really really difficult to make any meaningful connections or even have social conversations there. You go into one of the larger channels and its a hundred peop

We attempted to be cloud agnostic (using terraform instead of CloudFormation for example) and then later multi-cloud. The amount of complexity and cost around it was just too much. If AWS goes down, more or less a good portion of the intern

This sums up my issue right here- its one thing if they said that they won't support holographic 8k audio or whatever future thing they come up with, but I can't understand what they would need more memory for in the end devices,

Isn't low precision something like +/- 15 feet? For ATC, that seems more than good enough when they keep jets a mile+ apart. It just needs to be more precise than radar.

This gets thrown around a bunch in personal finance forums as well, but its a bit dishonest IMHO- it saying that the avg balance for a 401k account is 36k, not that the average balance across all 401ks account for an individual is 36k. Cons

No, but I am surprised that 6.6% growth is a cause of concern, even if it is lower than whatever the previous number may have been. The last time we saw growth rates above 5% in the US was during the .com boom and even in the midst of it th

My big takeaway from this is that religions can be quite bizarre. You have this omnipotent god with all these crazy rules that are required but will be totally ok if you find a loophole... maybe it's just people that are strange?
