Large queries with lots of nesting is exactly the situation I'm in. Perform a mutation and boom - very slow response from useQuery().

Agreed. In one team I managed, we artificially created "red teams" to take opposing view points if we were getting into traps with too much group think. Leaves the teams with confidence in their choices and real buy in, as you sai

This hits home for me right now. I'm currently battling some performance problems related to a lot of "magic" that happens when using the Apollo GraphQL framework and am strongly considering ripping it apart and taking back c

I was guessing A was FB due to the one-time mega download (though I've not worked there so I'm not sure if there's a linux VM in that picture)

But doesn't the burger menu usually open/close a drawer? On gmail all it's doing is expanding/collapsing the menu that's always on the screen no matter what. Feels like Google is breaking their own convention here.

How does RDS Postgres beat GCP hosted Postgres? Genuinely curious as we're running on GCP and I'm wondering what we're missing out on.

It doesn't as the two have no connections whatsoever. The point was that Safari is the most battery efficient browser overall on MacOS, so they're willing to put up with sub-standard support for web standards if their battery last

Same here in Norway. Grocery stores are feeling pretty normal these days (didn't check for alcohol gel but toilet paper is bountiful).

In a previous gig I worked on an identity system for a large media company. Using the forgot password link on every login is actually a very common pattern - though I think the reasons most people do it (they log in and are rarely logged ou

Never seen a general purpose utility for this, but some apps clean up their own content. For example, 1password copies your 2FA codes automatically to the clipboard when you log in and then clears them out after a few seconds.

It has no external dependencies but supports compiling typescript, flow, etc. Does this mean compilers for those will be re-reimplemented inside Rome? Not really looking forward to build tool-specific bugs with those languages.

Assuming you mean the “acquisition” that was rumored around the time of Spotify’s IPO, you may want to check the date of that article: April 1, 2018 https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/04/01/spotify-microsof

Not sure I buy that argument. By that reasoning Code written in Go must be more complex than code written in Scala since the language is much less expressive. However in practice I haven’t found that to be the case at all.

Well since this is HN, the overwhelming majority will say DuckDuckGo. I switched to DDG as my default browser search around 3 months ago and it's mostly been fine. However, when I _don't_ find what I'm looking for, I do find
