If there is one thing I've learned from two decades of reading about labor history, it's: Every gain labor has ever made has been taken. Every gain the working class (i.e. the overwhelming majority of people) has achieved has come

This is the highest-impact format with which one can consume news, though. Magazines are great, but lots of people are just looking for a quick shot of the current news. This sort of UI is ideal for that need. This is exactly why the Drudge

"In propaganda, "everybody" is your audience, not a defined segment." Everybody _can_ be your audience. Or a group of 1,000 can be.

When I was a junior programmer at 30, it sure felt like I was on the older side. :) It's a separate subject, but there is a lot of age bias in the field.

I am 33, and I have paid a lot of anecdotal attention to what seems to keep my brain fresh, i.e. able to still learn new skills at a rapid clip. Just by way of credentials: I was a successful lawyer for a few years of my 20s (rising to leve

Indeed. The soil pH, while important in and of itself, seems like a bit of a red herring (or maybe a secondary story) when evaluating the macro-changes.

Another possibility is that the soil was so degraded that only crummy grass could grow there. Perhaps the larger native plants, which are more complex organisms, need nutrients in greater quantities than the grass. So it's less about b

Apparently good money does not translate into a liveable wage. "Stop grandstanding and take care of your own house first" is more of the message of this article, I'd say.
