You can validate pricing on https://www.raptorcs.com/content/base/products.html . I am one of the first buyers with a dual 22 core system, so I'd be happy to run any numeric benchmarks if people have ideas. B

These seem pretty insane, you'd be better off with two POWER9s in just about any dimension including cost, TDP, thread count, cache, memory bandwidth, I/O bandwidth including PCIe lanes, FLOPS and integer performance.

You state this as if I didn't so I'm confused by that :S. Regardless it is possible to do a full build for under $2k, especially if you have any resuable parts like case/psu/nvme.

Check the link in my original post and the child comment. You can buy DDR4-R and NVMe cheaply from places like Superbiiz. Here is the special DD2.1 box https://secure.raptorcs.com/content/TLSDS1/intro.html for $1

Huh? It's under $2k for a daily drivable config. $1600 if you are willing to do a 2.1 rev chip without HW speculative execution mitigations and some other errata.

Great post! One nice thing about having the data path in kernel is that you aren’t context switching to userspace and back, nor doing the associated copyin/copyout to move data between address spaces. This can be further leveraged to

The tech industry is unwell, in our case despite abundant cashflow it's based in the completely irrational. Your salary would be a full 10-20% higher with average turnover numbers if it weren't wasted on modern tech recruiting pra

Behind the scenes, this has been a big boon for CDNs, my work is powering Amazon, and it is interestingly derived from work from Netflix on FreeBSD TCP. Together we are making TCP work much better on these largely wireless networks.

Yep, this two layer approach is also desirable since in userspace you aren't context switching to the kernel all the time and can make some assumptions to avoid certain locking and external fragmentation with the kmem. Short lived all

QUIC is kind of like a relaxed TCP over UDP. You can do SCTP over UDP (aka WebRTC), and TCP over UDP to gain those application-managed benefits with varying upper level trade offs. SCTP has pretty wide support, but it's kind of like a
