The longer I work in engineering the fewer windows I want open on my screen If this is “PGAdmin, but 50% worse, but it just lives as another tab in your editor instead of another application” that is genuinely a huge win for me Probably tha

I think this is an excellent comment. Not enough people talk about living near other parents in this way, and you’re right that it’s a massive difference-maker.

It’s certainly true that there are real downsides to both ends of the spectrum — but all things being equal I’d rather be wiping my tears with hundred dollar bills than tissues

Aside from the pure “networking” factor, the expectations/environment are a big deal too I went to private school and in hindsight it pretty obviously altered my life for the better — I was a smart but lazy kid, and being surrounded by

Ooooh can’t wait for that, and for further investment in Prisma Studio generally — already a really nice tool, I just want some slightly more power-user-y stuff!

Anecdotal of course, but I feel a very distinct difference between 3.5 and 3.7 when swapping between them in Cursor’s Agent mode (so the system prompt stays consistent).

This thread is absolutely fascinating — American, never heard of this practice (esp ct/st), and desperately want it in my life now!

I think this is kinda reductive. If you’ve got users all over the world, then global DB replicas are a sizable performance improvement, whether you’ve got 1 engineer or 1,000.

Not 100% parallel, but I was debugging a slow endpoint earlier today in our app which uses Mongo/mongoose. I removed a $lookup (the mongodb JOIN equivalent) and replaced it with, as Prisma does, two table lookups and an in-memory join

Well, certainly, a transit operator should be doing their own research — this isn’t a replacement for that. But this is excellent as a complementary new piece of data, especially one that can be gathered so frequently and easily (especial

This is really brilliant — like desire paths, but for transit. Obviously execution will be challenging, but the concept is fantastic, and China/Shanghai seems like one of the few places with the requisite density & state capacity t

I had the same thought! Honestly, even the body of the device isn’t really that far off from what you would get today. Kinda awesome.

Cool. Good luck on both that and Anubis generally — seems like you’ve found something that’s both a meaningful benefit to the common good AND could maybe make a buncha money, or at least enough to pay for development, which is awesome.

Really? Maybe my knowledge of EV ranges is way out of wack. I was assuming avg ranges look much more like ~200mi on a full battery in real-world conditions, and that a 30-min charge usually only gets you 80%. Sounds like I’m at least somewh

Superchargers aren’t available everywhere, and even in your scenario that’s still twice as long as it takes me to fill a gas tank, and you have to do it twice as often (at least). That’s not nothing!

Even if there are charging stations every ten miles along the exact route you were already planning to take, it’s just straightforwardly true that it’s more annoying to charge vs. get gas. I can fill my tank and be back on the road in <5

If we don’t actively try to identify and implement positive use cases, then yes, it’ll definitely bring more harm than good. Isn’t that all the more reason to call out our high hopes?
