Apple and Google still have the Facebook app in their respective stores. Why not hold everyone to the same standards? Or are there differences I'm not seeing at a high level? Maybe sophistication/existence of content moderation is

Yes, Facebook is likely violating trademarks. Its quite disgusting to see a $500 billion dollar company fighting a non profit with such ugly tactics.

Wonder if they can be sued for trademark infringement over this?

Documenting and justifying are very different things. Seems like the problem is social media.

Microsoft suicided its extremly popular Messenger and Facebook's took its place, then WhatsApp took over.... things come and go. Now WhatsApp is on a similar suicide mission.

That's what is called the echo chamber... slowly sliding into it with Facebook's engineering help. What it leads to, we were able to witness yesterday.

Didn't Facebook legally state they will NOT do this when acquiring WhatsApp- to me it sounds as this can be prohibited and daily fines with subsequent breakup should be in order. Sometimes I wish I had studied law...

This is pure speculation. Let me counter with the equivivalent counter argument: More likely that domain holders were given time (about 12 months) to validate their eligibility.

Might be a possibility to disrupt the ad business. FB and Google might be paid tons of money for providing little value or maybe even toxic value.

Recent news shows that Solarwinds might have directly employed potential hackers and most companies weren't aware of them nor that their software is partially developed in Eastern Europe, not the US.

If you don't want to be a shitty company, don't build your business on top of a business model that harms people and society.

This metric for judging if software is trusted or not seems backwards. Solarwinds was (probably still is) quite popular for instance.

I dont think this has anything to do with worth - its just a good advice. There is no objective measure and you likely underestimate what you are "worth" to some companies. As a consultant it might be different because roles are d
