I don’t think they need to for there to be value. Sure, maybe there’s spyware in free software that they haven’t found. But we know that these advertising companies are putting e-stalking code into all their products right now. Trading that

Yes, and the fault is on the people using U-3 that way, not the economists. Talking about the problems with U-3 implies that the economists messed up. The issue is that everyone is looking for a quick 5-second way of making conclusions ab

They are. Transgenderism has decades of research backing it and the right has just unilaterally decided that it’s wrong. They didn’t do this based on any sort of real research but rather empty appeals to nature and essentialism. Sports bans

I would argue there was. You’re using “Accepts conservative thoughts uncritically” as the barometer here. Conservative thought just tends to lose out when examined critically, so the right seeks to compensate by authoritarian measures. See

It’s not our responsibility to do so. A company doesn’t have some inherent right to exist such that we must accept unethical behavior.

Not all biases are equivalent. "Don't be racist, don't curse, and maybe throw in some diversity" is not morally or ethically equivalent to "ignore existing evidence to push a far-right white supremacist talking poi

I think conflating what other companies have been doing with what Grok is doing is disingenuous personally. Most other AI stuff has had banal "brand safety" style guards baked in. I don't think any other company has done so

I’m assuming they mean const function/method parameters. Being able to mark inputs to functions as const to guarantee that they aren’t mutated in C++ which often means you can just pass in the value by reference safely.

A large number of people do not take Zuckerberg or Altman seriously and do bash them, but there is also a contingent that do. This is similar to Trump; about 1/3 of America listens to him and think he’s talking sense. Note that these c

Personally, I was eyeing redpanda connect for some use cases and the telemetry was a huge turnoff, even if it’s disabled. This is in addition to the licensing schemes. So my focus has been on Bento instead.

Mueller’s findings were not exactly a ringing exoneration despite how the right likes to frame it. A lot of people went to jail and he specifically said that he couldn’t exonerate and only stopped the investigation due to DoJ policy, and no

I don’t think it’s economics that got us into that. It’s primarily been incredible fiscal irresponsibility, mainly from Republicans, that has done so. Congress hasn’t really agreed or followed mainstream economics as long as I’ve been alive
