Not sure why you quote it, that's pretty huge. I'd call any double-digit percent increase on a billionaire's wealth huge.

Sure, but there are scenarios and architectures where you do want the workload to jump around, but just to a subset of hosts matching certain criteria. Kubernetes does solve that problem.

As evidence of this point, “Trump Derangement Syndrome” was originally “Bush Derangement Syndrome”. I have to roll my eyes anytime someone mentions TDS seriously. Although Trump has a cult of personality that Bush did not have; you didn’t h

News organizations should not uncritically repeat press releases like these. It is an ethical failure to do so.

The people that are against "unsafe" vaccines do not do the proper research to determine whether a vaccine is actually safe. These people claim that safe vaccines, like the COVID shots, are actually unsafe because they googled up

No, you're trying to draw an equivalence with the Fed here, and its not at all valid. The current US administration fired the BLS commissioner for a bad jobs report and is actively suing news outlets (and installing "fairness che

To play the devils advocate, being able to memorize patterns and recognize which patterns apply to a given problem is extremely valuable. Tons of software dev is knowing the subset of algorithms, data structures, and architecture that appl

I agree but the problem is that the average developer uses an LLM is to avoid doing so. I know we’re all carefully examining the LLM output here on HN but that’s not how I see a lot of developers work in practice.

Machines don’t typically make clothes that are not wearable. An LLM will produce content that is incorrect.

I’m referring to actual people I have worked and interacted with so no not made up. They’re not engineers and shouldn’t have been labeled data engineers. They have some other value to the company, presumably, but trying to repackage them

People who can utilize the tooling to process petabytes of data efficiently aren’t the ones that are catching flack. The people I’m thinking of basically run massive inefficient SQL queries and then throw their hands up when it runs slowly

At some point it becomes easier to just write the code. If the solution was 350 lines, then I'm guessing it was far easier for them to just write that rather then tweak instructions, find examples, etc to cajole the AI to writing work

Good idea! We can have some sort of standard grammar that we use to prompt the LLM such that it deterministically gives us the result we ask for. We then constrain all prompts to match that grammar. Some sort of language describing progr

To be fair, there are a lot of people (especially on Hacker News) in group 2 convincing themselves that they are in group 3. And people in group 1 see that and think that group 3 is a lot lot smaller than AI acolytes think.
