I have had bad customer service from NewEgg in the past I'm not surprised by this. Now I buy almost everything off Amazon and only go to Newegg for stuff that can't be DOA (cables and such)

Jaded much? Maybe I'm overly optimistic of the quality of students the school system produces? (I never went to high school, I took the GED and scored in the 100th percentile across the board and went directly to college at 16)

If it's ok for them to use an algorithm to grade essays then it would be ok for students to use an algorithm to write the papers no? How is it different from using a calculator? it's a tool right? mathematics used to only be only pen and pa

It's a fluff article provided to them by Engine Yard since if you actually were writing a real story you would point out the different providers.

+1 I made almost the same comment. Raspberry Pi can do 1080p and since most digital signage systems are just running on web technology it can more then handle the load.

The Raspberry Pi seems like it would make a much more cost effective system for digital displays (1080p support + linux/Web backend) Having built several digital signage systems myself with off the shelf parts for < $200.. $400 seems re

I recently spent two weeks in the bay area and the first thing I noticed was "what's up with the massive numbers of homeless people here?" seriously driving through SoMa it seemed like everyone on the street was homeless.

Congrats to the scribd team. It's refreshing to see a post about being profitable rather then just how much was raised. Lots of love for scribd here.

I have my own server that I keep in a colo for a reasonable fee; I run small sites for family members and my email off of it. However for things that actually get traffic I go to Heroku or AWS, I don't need the headaches that come with a tr

Lag = fail. Interesting since it seems they use the dock connector so you would assume that there would be minimal lag compared to say Bluetooth.

Lobster is a decent font however it's way, way overused. Just please for the love of god don't use it in your logo (Some YC companies have) at best it's going to look generic.

Heroku is Free for most small things and reasonable if you only need one instance. Not as easy as Parse but far from rocket science. git push heroku master - FTW.

Rails is not the difficult after you have done it a few times, just line up your console commands and get to work most of the time is waiting for stuff to download/compile.

Exactly, A) if you don't use Parse you're going to have to write server code. B) If you do use Parse and decide to change in the future you're going to have to write server code. The outcome is the same however with option B you will have

I had exactly the same issue with the flattr blog. I tried flattr.net then got to flattr.com but it was a pain and involved me typing in the URL. Bad! Anyway big +1.

There are other cheaper alternatives example: Bigstockphoto = $1 - $8 per image/use (if you use credits) However Getty does have some really nice images!

Maybe it is and the Bing team only uses Google to find the links. (lol) Actually didn't Microsoft force their employees to use only Microsoft products? Sometimes it's not fun to eat your own dogfood.
